Man this sounds like a stupid idea waiting to be abused by sketchy accountants.

The problem with not taxing tips is you will have people getting paid salary/tips and not paying anything.

Not sure. Robert Hyde didn’t include dates or anything. Not really a way to fact check it without that, right?
I assume we could check the reliability of the source. Robert Hyde was the Trump operative stalking Marie Yovonovich in the Ukraine to the point he was arrested and slapped with a restraining order. He’s on record with convicted felon Lev Parnas offering to have people “take care of her.” He was arrested at Trump Doral and incarcerated under the Florida Mental Health Act claiming that Secret Service agents and landscapers were coming to get him. He was arrested again over failure to pay child support while spending money golfing at Trump’s resort. He owned a landscaping company and was arrested for reckless endangerment. He was also arrested for trespassing in 2019. He ran for Congress in CT but the GOP pulled support and funding due to what they considered vile comments about Kamala Harris.

So, dunno. I wouldn’t be surprised if those were the headlines. The issue is one tells about the cost of it while the other doesn’t, I assume, right?

With regards to the content, under the Trump administration’s proposed rule in the first term,. as long as employers earned minimum wage, employers could legally pocket those tips.

He also rolled back worker protections, lowered the threshold for overtime allowing employers to skate OT rules, and nominated Andrew Puzder (CEO of CKE Restaurants) who openly wanted to fire employees to automate, attacks on minimum wage, mistreating workers, etc.

But, did you want to get into how different networks cover things who’s predominantly biased?

As substance, why do we allow them to pay service workers like that $2.13/hr in the first place? It’s insanity. Think about that, really. You’d have to work literally 4 hours to buy a bag of oranges or 2.5 hours to buy a 10 pack of Oscar Meyer hot dogs.

Then don’t take the job. Plant a garden, etc…
