MLB is asking

their fans on a survey if they are Republicans or Democrats.

Will these professional leagues never learn?

If I was the commissioner of any of these leagues I would make a clear statement that we will remain anti-political.

Have they not learned that taking a side- any side- is bad for business?

This is Breitbart so I’m a little skeptical.

That said, if true I don’t understand the reason for this.

If I was doing a survey for MLB and they asked me what party I’m affiliated with my response would be “I’m a member of the None Of Your Damn Business” Party.

Very exclusive.

You have to stop with this source nonsense.

They confirmed it with National Review who is cited by Breitbart.

This is ironic considering you believe literally nothing reported by CNN, even when verified.

IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE AS THEY GET BACKED INTO A CORNER…

THEY HAVE BEEN LIED TO FOR 5-6 YEARS “RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA” (ALL THEIR LIVES REALLY) YET THEY KEEP WANTING TO BELIEVE THEIR LIES…

CATFISHY IS READY TO JUMP OF THE BRIDGE IF TRUMP IS PRESIDENT THIS YEAR REGARDLESS OF THE REASON…

QUACK FCKEN QUACK…

I’ve gone to a couple Rays games this year. I never take the surveys but when back into the trashed emails and found it and it definitely asks your party affiliation. It’s the last questions on the survey after asking questions about the general experience of the game. Parking/concessions/pricing/protocols/etc.

Also asked my interest in other sports

It’s a voluntary survey. This is a dumb thing to worry about.

Companies want as much info about you as they can get. If MLB sees that half of respondents are republicans, maybe they decide to cater to them better. It’s just standard data collection, and you can individually choose what you’re comfortable with.

Explain how/under what circumstances.

That you refuse to do so is all the evidence I need.

I don’t disagree with this. They can do whatever they want. They may have good intentions or intentions aimed at marketing.

They may also have nefarious intentions.

Or- maybe they are doing damage control wondering why they are losing viewership and tying it back to this.

My only point is that politics is bad for business; particularly this industry.

People go to sports to evade politics and work. It’s a destresser. Once they see it there they’ll find another option to destress.

1,000% agree. Sporting events is one of the only gatherings where people don’t give a fuck what color you are, religion, political affiliation, etc. It’s one of the only places where you will literally hug a complete stranger after your team pulls a miracle win.

I absolutely abhor sports and politics mixing. I used to love the NBA, and now even aside from the game itself being dull, I can’t turn on a game.

I think the majority of fans think like me and don’t want the two topics intertwined. Sports should be an outlet for folks from real world problems.

Yup, agreed. There are special cases, obviously, where people make names for themselves by pandering, but sports should be about wholesome fun and escapism.

I make my living off sports…And you couldn’t pay me to turn on ESPN other than for the game itself.

I agree with this stance. The further sports stay away from politics, the better.
