Mike Leach bikki

I know you always liked Mike Leach. He had a heart attack and is in bad shape. He may not make it. He had to be air lifted by a chopper because it was so bad.

ugh

Not good. Hope he pulls through.

I got a text right now and it is not good. Lack of oxygen to the brain.

Been told he passed and info will be released soon

Oh man. Really sad news. Thanks for sharing.

It is terrible. One guy who worked for me played and coached under Leach. We just got off the phone and he is blown away. Said Leach was one of the good guys in coaching.

Everyone who knows Leach loves the guy

I could listen to him talk for days. Sad.

This is what is reported on Miss State 247 site. Sad

I wish I had better news, but I’m told UMMC has transitioned into comfort care measures for Coach Mike Leach. It’s essentially hospice care at this point.

I’m told he’s been largely if not totally nonresponsive since the cardiac event yesterday morning.

It appears to simply be a matter of time now. It all seems so unfair. Life is fleeting. Tell those you love how much you love them. Forgive, forgive, forgive.

We will not be working to break the final story. We will respect the family’s timing on all of that. Yes, we have a story ready to roll, but we will now await the official and unfortunate word from the University.

I can’t believe we’re even having these discussions. It’s so surreal. He isn’t just our football coach. He’s Mike Leach, a national treasure. I’m honored to say he was our coach for three seasons. It’s also nice to remember that he’s going out a winner.

Please remember his family, our coaches and players in your thoughts and prayers.

I love you all and Hail State!

Not hiring Leach was the worst mistake ever made by UM. He certainly did wonders for college football in Lubbock, Pullman, and Starkville, not renowned epicenters of college football tradition. Had we hired Leach, we’d have filled the stadium, likely have won a NC, and been entertained by his flamboyance. I am saddened by the news of his illness.

Thanks Fish for the update.

It was announced this am that he has passed. He is a true icon of college football. Leach was a innovator. Guys like Sonny Dykes, Lincoln Riley, the head coach for the Cardinals and even Matt Dubuc who played for Leach and now coaches at Cardinal Gibbons HS all used his offense. It is a sad day. The guy was only 61.

Not returning to the board. I’m only here to offer my condolences to Bikki as he was an avid Mike Leach supporter. May he rest in peace.

Thanks Canes Fan for your kind words. I tried my damnedest to persuade people to hire Leach, but it was a bad time for the U and for Leach as well. It’s still nice to contemplate what could have been. Good grief, we passed on Leach and hired Shannon. It has always troubled me that my arguments for hiring Leach invoked a great deal of hostility on this message board. Clearly, I was in the minority favoring Leach. I got the same reaction when I predicted Urban Meyer’s offense would work at Florida. I was told that in the SEC, you need to run a pro-set offense to win. I also predicted Nick Saban would win at Alabama, because the only place he didn’t win during his coaching career was with the Dolphins.

One o my friends, a very eccentric millionaire who owned over forty radio stations and now owns a bar and boat marina here on Pensacola Beach, also had a home in Key West where he and Leach became friends. A former player for the Univ. of Georgia, he tried adamantly to persuade Leach to become head coach of the Bulldogs, but Leach told him that the job he really wanted badly was to be head coach of the Miami Hurricanes. (No wonder I have such a foul opinion of Donna Shalala). Leach loved South Florida. My friend found Leach one of the most interesting persons he ever met and they spent hours talking about random topics: sports, history, politics, and food. My friend and I both find ourselves down in the dumps on hearing of Leach’s passing.

Lastly, we need to bring the Air Raid to Coral Gables.

Storm leave politics out of this. I started this because I agree with Bikki. Miami should have hired leach. Miami hired jimmy when no one else would have. They went after Dennis and people said you could not run his system at Miami. If you had put leach at Miami with the athletes in florida his offense would have flourished.

Just watched the story about Leach making a decoy playbook and planting it against Texas.

Ultimately Texas caught on and won but man what a legendary story.

IF A PERSON IS MAKING MEDICAL DECISIONS BASED ON POLITICS THEY ARE INCREDIBLY ESTUPID….

THERE IS NOTHING POLITICAL ABOUT MANDATES OF AN EXPERIMENTAL VACCINE….

IT IS CRIMINAL……
