Miami vs. FSU game thread

So they burn emory red shirt and we are right back where we were with tvd as qb. That sucks. Seems about right for MIAMI

Negative. We practically went 3 and out. The only reason we got the FG was because of the gifted field position.

Against the undefeated #4 team in the country, with a green starting QB and our recent troubles, none of us could have asked for anything better than to be within a score with the ball in the final minutes.

It is really sad that Emory got hurt so bad. He wasn’t playing great but it would have been nice for him to have a chance to tie.

Then TVD does what TVD does. Make a few nice passes before making a horrible decision and throwing a pick.

And Dawson and TVD with the time management… just awful. Why run it up the middle when they’ve been stuffed all half. they burned 45 seconds of clock, rushed the next play and got a false start. just dumb dumb dumb.

Good assessment 305. I’m for dumping Dawson. FSU made adjustments at half and stopped our rushing game. We obviously made no discernible adjustments. Emory played poorly; he’s not the answer. Miami was far and away the more physical team. With a decent QB, we’d have won the game.

BTW, I think Alabama has matured into the best team in the country. Saban has done a brilliant job turning Milroe into a winning QB and Alabama is THE most physical team in the country. At the LB position, the Tide doesn’t have one All American, nor two All Americans. The Tide has THREE All American LBs.

I think FSU goes to the Final Four but I am less confident of their winning it all. Right now, it looks to me like it’s going to be Alabama.

FSU is the better team right now. I just think our Defense played lights out today.

I am okay with keeping Dawson. It’s hard to blame him for TVD and with our QB situation. He has some good ideas, but there are definite areas he needs to work on.

One big problem this season is we’ve been out played in 3rd quarters. Coming out of the half, the other team’s halftime adjustments kill us, and we don’t do anything notable to adjust. That is a coaching/coordinator problem and another strike against Dawson. But like I said, Year 1 you don’t usually want to rush into a change. It was the right call last year, but Dawson could be a good fit.

Well, Lance Guidry is the real deal. How many times did the defense stop the Noles on 3rd down. Our rush had their QB running for his life. We sacked him several times for huge losses. Guidry did the same thing at Marshall which had one of the best defenses in the nation last year, pretty impressive for a small West Virginia school.

We need a QB, preferably one who is elusive and is a rushing as well as a passing threat. I can hardly wait to watch Lashlee’s SMU team playing in the ACC. If you get a chance watch the film of SMU’s game against North Texas. Watch what a 6’5" 268 lb fullback does for the rushing game. Watch the bodies fly. By hook or crook, Mario has to find a QB. What I don’t want is a slow plodding guy like TVD. We need someone with moves. Recall the FSU play where it looked like we had Jordan Travis stopped but he somehow wriggled free and almost carried the ball across the goal line. Quick feet.

Since I have a cabin on a bayou in Alabama, I follow the Tide. The Tide had a real problem with QB this year. The leading candidate was a great kid named Jalen Milroe. Nobody thought this kid would ever be QB. He has a rifle for an arm and could throw the deep ball but had no touch on the short stuff, constantly missing open receivers. In addition to his arm, he is fast and a tremendous threat to improvise and break free on drive saving run plays.

The Tide fans went nuts after Alabama lost its first game of the season to Texas. The word was the Milroe would never be a QB. So began one of the truly great coaching jobs of this season. Saban incrementally improved this team and somehow Milroe was winning games, winning them but winning them ugly. Every game, the Tide showed improvement and Saban never lost faith in Milroe. A humble, grateful kid Milroe worked his ass of to improve, and now Milroe has arrived. In the last few games, the Alabama offense has been awesome, and it is the kid who would never be quarterback most responsible for the teams success. Today, Milroe threw 6 TDs. Love this kid.
