First, defunding the police wasn’t removing all funding. It was remarkably logical even though it was worded badly. The police are tasked now with handling situation they have no business handling, like mental health calls, which all too often end up in a shooting where no crime was committed. They shouldn’t be responsible to handle everything, just crimes. But, they are and in doing so, they get terrible outcomes quite often. Since the 80s, we’ve piled on responsibilities while coupling it with a staggering influx of money to the point they are outfitted like the military and driving around in $90,000 cop vehicles. I can personally attest to that as in DFW, we have Corvette cop cars and shit all around. The Defund movement related to taking away the excessive funds and responsibilities and putting them on trained professionals who can handle non-crime related incidents. Seams pretty reasonable despite being words terribly.
Though, the opposing candidate was Amy Weirich, who was found to have the highest rate of proprietorial misconduct in TN with some specific instance being horrifically illegal and unethical like the prosecution of Noura Jackson, to taking $ for convictions, hiding things from the defense, etc.

He had a 3 year sentence and was let out after 2 but they don’t specify how long. At any rate, it is obviously EASY to agree with now. However, we have to consider overcrowding, we have to consider his behavior inside, we have to consider that everyone who isn’t stuck for life is let out early, what their recidivism rates are. So on. And so forth.
