Manny Has COVID

Assuming that he ends up alright, if it had to happen during the season, this is probably the best time

Yep. Hopefully everyone will be healthy by Dec 5th.

This is no joke. Hopefully he hasn’t been around his parents or older family members. I hope he recovers soon and that his symptoms are mild if they manifest themselves at all.

What a crazy year. I know the players are working out in isolation and over zoom calls. And of course they can do film breakdown and a lot of other prep work. But are they even practicing? Will they have a week on the field with a scout team to prepare for Wake?

What Manny had said earlier in the week was that players who had not tested positive recently or weren’t quarantined due to contact tracing could do socially distanced weight/conditioning training and everyone would do things like film study, but there was no actual practicing.

The hope is that they would be able to practice again the week before the Wake game.

This season has been absolutely FUBAR.

Wake cancelled their game this week too. Now we have to hope both teams can get this under control. If they do play, it will be a sloppy game with both teams having very little practice for an extended time.

Well that at least evens the playing field a bit in terms of one team not being unable to practice and the other one able to do so.

Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if our season is done (I obviously hope not).

Football players are essential workers, in terms of public mental health. They should get the vaccine first. Agree?

I hope you are kidding.

While some of you don’t think this virus is very serious, we have lost 250k lives and we also don’t know what the long-term impacts will be to those that get it. Manny is a minority and minorities have recorded far worse issues. I hope he is able to keep this away from others and recover with no serious side effects.

Any update?

Yes, I was kidding. A weak attempt at dark humor in a stressful time.

Just an FYI, here in Cali we personally just had the fourth set of friends have their dads die from COVID in the last two months.

Unfortunately the thing has been politicized but it’s real and it’s definitely killing people. Keep away from your parents if possible.

Damn. That’s awful. You’re right - it’s been politicized which is very unfortunate. I don’t care if the elderly/vulnerable have pre existing conditions - limiting the spread will save lives.
