Not sure if it is true, but I heard Julio Frenk was seen dressed as an elderly Cuban woman this morning and is posing as Mario Cristobal’s “abuela” so they can meet in private and stay under the sports media’s radar.
I think the fanbase of every team with an HC opening thinks they are getting Kiffin or Cristobal. Miami will be 20th in line by the time the new AD gets up to speed. Don’t get your hopes up.

Well figure he’s got 2 years left on his contract. This recruiting class is shot from a failed season and expectations he’ll be fired. If new AD was to hold onto him, the baseline expectation is that he’ll be fired next winter. 1) how do you hire a DC and OC under that expectation? Pay through the fucking nose. 2) how do you recruit under that situation? You don’t.
So holding onto Diaz just sets yourself up for a high priced failure. Not exactly the first impression you wanna make as new AD. Why hitch your career to a situation like that when the boosters are giving you a clean slate?

Yep - agree here. I give Diaz about a 35% chance to be retained - just wish we’d hear something sooner rather than later. New coach will want to bring in new staff.

I think while for fans we’re anxious, it doesn’t make much difference in the long run. I think we likely have an AD locked in. And we probably have a very short list of HC candidates we’ve been talking with (unofficially of course). And those HC candidates have probably spitballed some staff ideas.
Hell it’s the same in any business as you get higher up — if you start making moves when things are formally available, you’re already too late.

Same principle tells me Jurich is NOT going to be AD. There was a tweet today that the search firm threatened to resign “if Jurich is granted an interview”.
100% speculation but: Blake doesn’t get fired mid-season unless they’ve got a short list. That was a month ago. So they’ve (Miami and search firm) already narrowed it down to 2-3 people, none of whom are named Jurich. A random person with power/money has their nose out of joint that “Miami isn’t even considering Jurich!”. Group agrees to interview Jurich (even though they’ve already got their final candidates who have gone through the whole process) as a concession to the party so they can say “hey, we interviewed your guy, the others were better”. Search firm gets pissed b/c they’re down to the wire and have already done all this work for the final candidates and now you want them to go back to square one with a new candidate? Search firm doesn’t like getting jerked around and restart the work on a contract they’ve essentially finished.
I wouldn’t be happy with a Jurich hire at all. He left Louisville in a dumpster fire.
In short, no one here has a f’in clue what is really going on.
