Maybe I’m alone on this but Dabo Swinney seems to be slowly morphing into this year’s version of Mike Gundy. The same mystified look on his face as to why his offense gets swiftly snuffed out and his D is getting torched.
Maybe he should have gotten out while the getting was good. As a HC who used to enjoy the “bag-man advantage” and pocketing millions in salary while railing against player compensation I can’t help but smile (yeah,..not nice..I know) at his predicament.
This is the type of loss your program does not come back from. Clemson is going to end up getting beat by over 50 if Lane does not take his foot on the GAS. Dabo ran the program into the ground. His arrogance has hut that program.
I’m no fan of spoiled-child Lane Kiffin but it looked like he decided not to rub it in too deep . LSU could have scored a lot more if they really wanted.
Elite80 …at one point wasn’t Alabama looking at Dabo as possibly being Saban’s successor ?
It’s like Harvey Dent said in Batman: The Dark Knight:- “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…”
I guess in this case it could be rephrased as “ you either leave or die the hero…” . I guess that happens when a HC starts thinking that HE..is the program.
No one’s becoming a villain. This is about aging and being set in one’s ways to the point the world passes you by. Happens to everyone eventually as we all get old. It gets compounded in sports with coaches and players because of the money thrown around. Nobody ever wants to walk away from the cash cow. Players can’t quit their narcotic - which is what I call the sports they play - the money, the crowds, the applause, all of it and want to play forever. And what coach doesn’t want to be the highest paid state employee?
They just can’t quit it so they spoil on the job. I swear Bobby Bowden’s corpse eventually would have continued in that job if they didn’t run him out by 2010. At some point it’s just necessary to kick them out the door with the gold watch.
Lane Kiffin is just a punk. I never could stand that guy. Did you see him suck up to Saban on Gameday?
It will be really interesting to see what comes of the SEC vs LSU. For ONCE, I will side with the SEC on this one.
IF, IF, IF LSU gets kicked out of the SEC don’t be surprised to see them in the ACC. I don’t see LSU getting kicked out but Lane is just a villian and he likes it.
Can you imagine the atmosphere at Ole Miss when he comes to town??
As far as Clemnson goes, Dabo is the modern version of Bobby Bowden…he needs to go after this season.
I’d be so surprised to see LSU in the ACC that I would drop dead on the spot. It won’t really happen and the SEC doesn’t really want them gone either for what they bring to the league. But the conference does hope they give up pursuing professional players.
Sorry, guys, but NIL and the Portal have eroded the league. It’s not about football anymore. It’s about money and I KNOW “NIL” has been around for a long time…the good ole boys have been handing money out long before Uncle Luke did it, I get it.
Teams are tacking on a performance tax to tickets, Georgia charging $20 bucks to people to watch film review. It’s sad….
TBH …no pros should be allowed back on a team as a player. As an asst.coach..by all means….but once a pro always a pro. Take your medicine.
That teams are nickel & diming fans to the extent of charging to watch film review or adding a “tax” to tickets ..that’s just criminal. The kids can earn well-deserved dollars without schools poking the paying public in the eye. What are they trying to “recoup” ? It’s just a grift .
Building over-the-top athletic facilities ,over-paying for coaches and other personnel , multi-billion dollar stadiums that equal or even exceed those of NFL teams…..that’s the freaking problem !
