This game was not just the most emotional thing I’ve done in years, but it’s the best game I’ve ever attended in my life. It was an insane amount of joy and stress and adrenaline.
Attendance stats may have been 50/50, but in person around Phoenix and in stadium it felt like there were a lot of Ole Miss fans around. Some of my buddies were confident but there was an energy out there that this was anybody’s game.
That first drive, the game plan was working spectacularly, we had just run twice for 4 yards each, and on 3rd and 2 when the offense shifts into the Malicat, the entire stadium booed. Seriously, before the ball snapped, everybody was pissed, and it was our first loss of yards and it killed the drive and left 4 on the field. Literally no reason for that garbage at that moment and Dawson was the only one wondering why.
Miami left points on the field and kept this game closer than it should have been. Yes. But at the beginning of the 2nd half, the refs colluded and decided that Miami wasn’t going to win. I don’t know what you saw on TV but the calls and no calls were total BS. It was anything to keep Miami from scoring. And it almost cost us the game.
Dawson lost the script in the 2nd half too. He got frazzled or something, because running would have been an easier win. He almost screwed the pooch and i would not be unhappy if we replaced him.
What an amazing game this was. Back and forth with the score. I’m sure it was great TV but it almost gave me a heart attack. What I know is this coach and this team have overachieved. We are in the Natty game boys. It was a long and hard 23 years to get back here, and we knocked out the Ohio State and Fiesta Bowl monkeys.
What a fucking game.
