LB Nix to UM! (For about 6 months…Flipped to Ore)

IMG. Originally from Orlando. True MLB. Faster, more explosive Flagg type. Expected for couple months but no less exciting.

Could be start of big week for UM as Drake Stubbs crystal balls are rolling in as well

Cristobal doing work in Central and NoFla.

Awesome 2 year LB haul for D-Nic. Tape is in the Defense Board thread.

Nice to see these hits continue.

Already looks and plays like a beast. I was impressed by his tapes. He chose Miami over lots of powerhouse teams. Nix will help us.

Lance Guidry is certainly the real deal. Because of Guidry, I feel very comfortable with the defense going into next year.

This did not age well…

Age??? That shit died.

“This did not age well”

Agreed. Still, I don’t believe Guidry suddenly lost his coaching ability in a single year. I was not for firing him. Our stats reveal us as having played significantly better than two thirds of college teams in most defensive categories.

One of our biggest problems this year was tackling. It seemed to me Miami missed more tackles than any team I watched. They just couldn’t rap things up. Additionally, we didn’t force fumbles. Ergo, we didn’t recover many fumbles.

Unfortunately, we sustained too many penalties. Procedural calls are signs of poor coaching. Penalties are drive killers, causing long third down yardage situations, forcing teams into having to execute long conversion plays that raise the probability of turnovers.

The whole thread didn’t!

Neither Nix or Stubbs are Canes

Play for passion has been supplanted by playing for dollars. This was bound to happen since the real talent is that of players whose material rewards were insignificant compared to that of their coaches. Understandably, many of us find the game less interesting since the school loyalty factor has been muted substantially. Money makes the world go around, and while it cannot buy you love, it can certainly buy you a proximate facsimile of love.

Nothing causes more friction among college faculties than the huge salaries paid to major sport coaches. In big football states, the head coach of the largest public university in the state has the highest salary in the state, much higher than the state governor or any university president. What do you think Nick Saban’s chances would be were he to run for Governor of Alabama? Look at Tuberville, former Miami assistant and Auburn coach, now a United States senator. Suddenly, it’s time to play the piper or in this case pipers plural. The age of loyalty has vanished.
