No way I take the Vandy job if I have options. And Lashlee will have options next year.
I am somewhat torn on this if I am him.
If they offer him and it is a significant amount of money, then why not? He is young enough that if he fails that he will be able to go back to being an offensive coordinator and if he continues to do well there, he will be given another shot as a head coach. Meanwhile he has made a nice chunk of change and gotten experience as a HC.
Let’s say he decides to stay at Miami and does well, how much better of an offer is he going to get? On the flipside, let’s say King doesn’t come back and we don’t have a QB that is very capable running the offense and his stock drops - now he just missed out on an opportunity.
There are obviously other reasons to stay (not wanting to move your family again, truly thinking there is a special opportunity the following year, etc). I think if I am him, it would come down to is King coming back or do I feel confident enough that TVD is the goods/we get a strong portal QB.
i struggle to see why Lashlee would be a candidate for this job? his offense is 39th…not exactly setting the world on fire. if you want an offensive HC, wouldn’t you want someone at least ranked in top 10 production?
Getting hired at a good program is as much about your network as it is about production. While Lashlee has done OK, he hasn’t produced a product that screams “hire me” to overcome the lack of relationship with an AD.
He can take credit for a team going 8-1.
He can take some of the credit. Some of it has to go to King, Justice, Manny, the kickers, and even the D who has been crazy good in the 4th quarter of the last few games.
Really?
You take the gig, no? May never come again.
If this guy knows Miami history since 2004, you go. No telling what happens in the future.
