Is this good news, or bad news for Miami?
I have not been impressed with Lashlee so this seems like good news to me.

I actually like him - I’d love for him to stick around - especially if King returns.
I like him better than the past few coordinators but still wouldn’t mind if he moves on as long as we got another who runs a similar style. I am a little tired of the handoff up the middle on 2nd and longs.
My money is they hire a current HC. Could see Fickell get the nod.
I want to keep Lashlee for at least another year. The offense has clearly improved a ton (money well spent) and I think the offensive line will continue to improve over the next 2-3 years. The next 3-4 years should see Miami take a major step up in wins. Sadly, I don’t think Miami will ever compete with the pay to play teams (SEC+OSU+Clemson+UT). The best chance for Miami would be winning big, getting kids paid for their image, and showing that income to in-bound recruits…
I hate the 2nd and long up the middle going no where runs as well but blame our offensive line for much of our offensive troubles. There is only so much you can do scheme wise to hide bad OL play.
I want to see consistency in the system and Lashlee has overall done well this year. Also, if he leaves we probably lose some of the other offensive coaches who I actually like so I would prefer he stays and give us some much needed continuity on offense for once.
Let’s focus on replacing the DC and CB coach at his point…
Lashlee won’t get that SC job. No way. He’s going to have to show more before he gets a bigtime HC offer. Which is good, because we need to focus on shoring up the defensive staff, as Israeli note.
It seems to me that big time programs want a hire to be able to make an immediate splash in recruiting (among other things). Flip some recruits, solidify others. They are not a proving ground for dark horse candidates or up and comers. I remember when South Carolina hired the ole ball coach Spurrier and thinking to myself why did they hire this retread whose best days were behind him. But to his credit he did give them a bounce of some sorts albeit not with any longlasting impact. Unless I am missing something Lashlee does not yet fit the “there’s a new sheriff in town” mold. When you have big time $$$ boosters you need a somewhat safe choice they will accept. Or at least some very widespread sexy buzz.
Too early to judge him, but I would not want to see him go at this time. He has done a decent job, but I really want to see how he does when he has to work with a new QB after King leaves.
If Lashlee gets the gig, let’s see if Miami goes all out and hires another top end OC. I don’t think SC would hire him as HC, because he isn’t nearly the hot name our fanbase believes he is. Then again, SC did hire Muschamp to begin with, so maybe they just have weak athletic department leadership.
Agreed.
Count me as one who wants Lashlee around for us next year
My money is on Napier…
At first I laughed at the thought, then I thought about covid. What if bargain HBC shopping actually became a thing?
I completely agree
He may not have set the world on fire, but he’s exhibit A on what a competent coordinator brings. He can’t magically fix our past recruiting woes and misevaluations, but he can hide our deficiencies (weak OL, subpar WRs) by scheming, which I actually think he’s done a good job so far.
Looks like it’s Shane Beamer’s job to lose.
nm.
Shane Beamer? that is crazy but I’m thinking he has some good connections.
Beamer confirmed. Been hearing it on local sports talk radio since Muschamp got the axe. Lashlee won’t be taking that job.
