Vice President Kamala Harris has not held one press conference since joining the presidential race 50 days ago, underscoring her campaign strategy of keeping her policies ambiguous and perhaps flexible.
Critics say Harris’s “basement” strategy raises concerns that she is an empty political shell with intentions to do or say whatever is needed to get elected, but the Harris campaign says voters do not care about policy.
“I don’t think the American public are really interested in the minutiae of the mechanism of how she will increase taxes,” Gina Raimondo, U.S. Commerce Secretary, told CNBC Monday on Squawk Box.
It is an equivalent argument. It’s also a useless argument, as I’m attempting to display.
Who cares that Trump personally loves socialized healthcare. His political calculus is he needs to be against it, so he is against it. That is the Trump we need to deal with.
The same goes for Harris. If she changes her views to better fit the mainstream, that would be the Harris we would need to deal with.
The point is that she can’t be trusted. She’s never disavowed any of them personally, at least as far as I can see. It seems like all of these anonymous sources are saying things. Random aids and such.
Hey, if you ask me, no politicians can be trusted. I’m certainly not going to trust that Trump has my best interests in mind.
As far as Harris disavowing or being vague about stuff, I think it’s a reasonable expectation that she clears up many of these positions in the debate. I would be critical of her if she didn’t.
