Kalen DeBoer

Wow. The man has jumped around a lot!

I do have him on ignore. Storm thinks everything is fixed. I don’t have time to waste in life with someone that is delusional.

I don’t think it’s going to work for DeBoer at Alabama. Best case scenario is a ryan day career where you’re always knocking on the door after replacing a legend, but even now Ohio st fans want him gone for not winning it all. Imagine how bama fans will be….10 wins will have them looking sideways at you quickly

Jedd Fisch seems like a risky hire to me given how much UW is paying. He did a good job at AZ but really only has one good (10-3) season as a HC. Surprised they didn’t go with someone who is more proven as a HC.

Fisch was Miami’s OC/QB coach under AG. He coached Japicky and Morris.

Fisch is like Diaz, Leach and a few other HC’s that never played much, if any, football beyond the high school level.

Jedd Fisch, I remember, did far and away the best job with Jacory Harris. Fisch is a good choice to replace DeBoer. Jacory would have been a better player had we been able to keep Fisch.

DeBoer is an exceptional offensive mind, and his teams are very well schooled. They exhibit what I frequently refer to as poise in their execution. Replacing Saban is an arduous task for anyone inasmuch as Saban did it better as a college coach than anyone in the history of the game. As they say around here in South Alabama, he’s the best that ever was.

Where DeBoer has to improve is in recruiting. Saban was the ultimate recruiter. To this end, he needs some assistants who are Southerners who understand well this part of the country. Then, too, he needs to retain the stellar players already on the team. Already there is talk of poachers going after Caleb Downs, the Tide’s sensational defensive backfielder and arguably the team’s most talented player. on the team.

IMO, DeBoer is up to the task. He is an eminently likeable person and a fiendishly hard worker. His past success in coaching has been extraordinary. The college game is all about offense, and DeBoer, I think, has a better grip on offense than even Saban.

DeBoer will be under intense pressure to win. Only in the State of Alabama do more than 90,000 fans show up for the spring practice game in Tuscaloosa, and nearly that many do the same at Auburn. DeBoer is going to face rife competition from Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, and look out for Auburn under the stellar guidance of Hugh Freeze; Auburn is going to be surprisingly good next year.

There is one thing I can say with a measure of authority. Alabama and Auburn both have great financial support from wealthy Alabamans. It would be naive to think that the great teams of both schools have not provided the talent with some extra perquisites outside of NCAA regulations. There is plenty of NIL money to be had by both Alabama schools.

I thought the Tide should have hired Lane Kiffin, but I had DeBoer very tightly in 2nd place. I think there is a very good chance for DeBoer to be a sensational hire.

I liked Jedd as a OC. Good luck to him.

Agree. You always want to be the second man after replacing a legend. Not the next man.

It will come down to if he can keep that recruiting train going. Going to be very hard in this day and age of NIL.

I agree with NIL being in play bama and some of the other money bag schools will be hurting since its now fair game. May be a reason Saban left.
