Thanks for posting. I enjoy these. Some good play breakdowns.
Who is Justin?
He may be on here still, I canāt remember his tag from the old board. He helped me back in when the old board would bug out off and on. Followed his insight for a long time. Good dude!
Dunno but the poor guy is having a breakdown every week watching the canes!
This one play says a ton about how bad out OL has performed. At the snap there is NO ONE over Gaynor or Rivers with a LB showing blitz. Gaynor snaps and passes him off as if Rivers was going to take him. Harris does his best to block him while Gaynor and Rivers are looking down field with no one to block. A 2 DL rush with 1 LB blitzing against 5 OL and 1 RB that leads to a sack! 6 on 3! For the love of GOD, the interior of our OL has not performed worth a SHIT!
Yea- bad coaching. They have to pick that up.
More evidence Diaz isnāt the guy for the job.
Miami has to pull out the purse and spend.
Maybe we as fans should start a crowd fund to pay for players now that we can.
From Justice at his media time today:
"First week I thought we left the game with a lot of positives, still a very, very big challenge and we didnāt play well enough to win,ā Justice said. āI thought the last week (against App State) was a really, really poor performance on our part.
āI feel we still have to figure out the right side,ā Justice said. āThe right side is not playing good ball, what we want it to be. ā¦ Neither Vaughn nor Justice played winning football Saturday night by any means, so we have to keep exploring our options.ā
Justice said that DJ Scaife and Jarrid Williams are now competing for the RT spot and Justice Oluwaseun and Navaughn are competing for RG.
On Donaldson:
āHe just plays out of his pads, too high right now, has some mental breakdowns that are inexcusable,ā Justice said. āWe love Navaughn, heās been a big part of this program for a long time. But he has to play better and I have to coach him better.ā
On DJ Scaife:
āThe first week of August camp I thought DJ had as good an August as anyone had. He was our best tackle, that was partly considering Zion was out. But DJ earned that right to start game 1. He got taken advantage of early in the Alabama game, we canāt get our quarterback hurt, hit, thatās why we pulled him."
āJalen Rivers - heās played the best of anyone the first two weeks,ā . āCorey has been solid, Zion still you can see he missed his two weeks of camp, itās showing in his game right now. We have to do better, do better all around. We know that. Thereās no excuses with that. Thatās the reality."
āWe have to get it right,ā āWe have to do better. ā¦ As an offensive line we have to do everything we can to develop trust so coach (Rhett) Lashlee can feel like he calls what he needs to call,ā āYou call an outside run, hit for a loss, as a play caller itās like touching a hot stove `maybe I donāt want to call that again.ā Heās been burnt. We know at least weāre getting stuff to move forward. We have to do our part as an O line."
This caught my attention as it was one of the only times I can remember a coach accepting the responsibility for the issues AND also holding kids accountable for their performances publicly.
Iām not sure Iām ready to throw in the towel on the staff. Iām willing to let them continue to adjust but if the losses start adding up and we arenāt seeing changes in personnel and performance then the writing is on the wall.
Week 1 to Week 2 changes:
Couch played far more snaps than Ivey. Ivey still gave up a score!
Justice played almost all RT snaps over Scaife.
Brison got snaps at WR but Wiggins did as well.
Aaroyo got more snaps and a catch at TE and HB.
Week 2 to Week 3:
KSmith is out for 4weeks or more. Huff is getting snaps at Will.
Chaney is out for the year. Cody Brown will get snaps at RB.
Per coaches comments- I expect to see Williams at RT and Justice at RG at least some of the time.
I still canāt believe LT hasnāt gotten a single snap. If that kid balls out for his first few snaps, the fan base is going to eat Manny up. Iām not asking him to play 50 snaps a game but he should be an easy player to get on the field in 3rd and long with very low risk of mental mistakes, kill the kid with the ball until the whistle blows!
I still canāt believe we arenāt throwing the ball more but plays like above (3 on 6 with a sack) gives you some insight into why they arenāt going pass happy.
Thatās the thing, outside of patke in my opinion, this is the best staff top to bottom. Iām still 50/50 on Manny. Until we have a breakthrough win, or actually beat someone we are not supposed to, Iām just in hope mode. It could be as simple as our front 7 truly sucks compared to the competition, or itās shitty coaching from Manny and Patke. Out schedule is as easy as it gets, weāll see it play out here.
Ironically, Iām far more concerned with our O. 36 points through week two isnāt going to cut it (2pt safety not counted). If we put up 42 on App State, would anyone be complaining about our D giving up 16?
I expect MSU to score 21pts or more. Miamiās offense has to score more than 23pts! There is just too much talent on that side of the ball for Miami to not be able to push the ball down field and score.
On D, it really comes down to LB play and keeping Ivey off the field. Jennings had ZERO tackles against App State yet played a ton. That is Kirby Freeman vs NCSt level bad. Much like Justice calling out OL, where the F is Patke who should be calling Jennings out as not doing good enough and naming others who will be given a chance.
Stop with the seniority and experience bullā¦
If a player does not perform on the field, his experience means squat. Let the next inline play until you find someone who makes plays. Hurley has been horrible this year so far. Restrepo looks so much better and should start in his place. 44 should never see the field again. Any of the youngsters can do as much as he did (meaning nothing) or better. Likewise, C. Williams has probable been our best DE. Let him play and if our DE cannot stop the run put Roberts or evevn LT as a DE and let them set the edge.
