My goodness you are stupid! Your post was about “Storm was right about Swasey.” To most that means you believed the players quotes that he was a good coach or you wouldn’t have posted them not once but also 3 years later.
I don’t think you could find your way out of a phone booth.
You are reaching big time with that ridiculous statement.
There was no higher graded offensive game from any team out of 130 in the country than the near 800 yards UNC put on UM last year
That’s 800 (778)…Not 500, not 600
They got I believe 96-98% of available yards in that game?
Diaz is a decent defensive mind who helped usher in some new age stuff…But his stock has fallen in that aspect too. I don’t hate him as a DC at all…But some of the gimmicky stuff he has done is starting to be exposed and hopefully he counter punches and adjusts. Again I don’t mind him and think the defense can regain the form of 2 years ago or maybe even go higher. I think Shoop can help because I really think he should have hired a defensive mind. Diaz is an average head coach AT BEST…And now he has to be a DC too?
Hire an old school hard nosed DC that can mesh ideas and physicality up front with Diaz’s new age blitz heavy 4-2-5 concepts. Obviously the horses ca be a little better across the board. Right now the talent is good at safety/ and above average at DT (in the past few years obviously DE play/talent was among the nation’s best). But that’s the move imo…I’ve heard but never verified that Shoop had some health problems that he may be able to recover from? So hopefully he is giving input this year and can take a DC role next year…Or maybe him and T-Rob co/DC?
I do think the defense outside of the MLB and the pass rush has shown promise this year. DJ Ivey’s playing time was finally cut against App State and that is a must as he is a FUCKING BUM. Bryce Young played out of his mind and Bama is Bama. I thought the D was good but not great against App State, but no pressure and their QB is average AT BEST. Smith’s injury hurts as he is a CLEAR top 4 player on this defense.
But to say #1 is pure comedy Storm. Please try to have an argument without ridiculous exaggeration.
I’d rate the CURRENT DEFENSIVE TALENT…On this roster as such…CURRENT, RIGHT NOW
DE- Average at best right now as a group, probably barely top 40 as far as starters, has fallen of compared to the last 4 or 5 years with Chad Thomas//Jackson/and even Garvin/Roussuea(got one year out of him, that sucks…Soft as hell for the covid sit out) and then the transfers. Chantz Williams looks like a player and he can make the current group move to the right side of “average” or even above. Need to land the studs this year locally…I was confident, but if we go 8-4 do you think Stewart and Kelly still come? We have a staff built for recuiting but South Florida kids are frontrunners and 8-4 basically means you aren’t backing up your sales pitch to them as they have bigger/better offers than 8-4.
**DT- GOOD **…I’d say top to bottom we have top 10-15 DT talent…Not top 5 elite like Bama/Clemson/OSU…but very good and the best we have had in a while
Striker…Good/Above Average…And play has been good with Carter/Frierson…Chase Smith in wings, and which safety will move? Need depth as top 2 leave. No commits so far, maybe Spencer from Georgia/ Graham from Jersey…Maybe portal? I think Lathan should be taken here if no top target comes. The Thomas kid from Orlando would have been the prize here, but he’s going to Georgia
MLB/WLB…Clearly below average at MIKE. Flagg is definitely better than Jennings and that needs to be reflected with snaps rest of season. Smith’s injury hurts here big time and hopefully he’s back in a couple weeks. Who’s next? Steed isn’t “Jennings bad” but should be a 2nd/3rd teamer on any good defense. TAC/Huff/Johnson…WHERE ARE YOU? IF they aren’t better than Steed than you aren’t recruiting well enough. I’ll live with young and mistakes before Jennings on field/Steed seeing more than 20 snaps a game. Johnson and Troutman are a solid haul last year.
**Corner…Average, our 2 best are above average…**Top 30-40 ish as a pair but can be better…Both are limited bc boundary corner is a new/wrong position for Stevenson but he’s needed there and Couch is a very good player but has size limitations when not playing in the slot. The depth is weak and unproven. Ivey needs to see the field very little or better yet NEVER…Like the top 2 and wondering why Blades isn’t on field yet. He’s playing special teams? Endurance off of the health probs? Help on way next year. Would like to see what Dunson can do and go with home Ivey please. Ivey’s only spot on this team should be the portal…He’s not UM quality…PERIOD
Safety- Good, possibly elite. Deepest position on team if Avontae Williams can behave. Hall is playing well again as last year was disappointing. Bubba Bolden isn’t what the media builds him up to be but is probably a top 15-20 safety in the nation…He gets reckless and sloppy but can play. Find ways to get 3 on the field at once please.
So bascally need LB/DE recruiting right now as CB is on the way and I trust T-Rob to have solid backup plans if one of the OOS kids recruit after a loss or 2.
Now YOU are backing up that Swasey is a good coach with your connections. You’ve been bitching the coaching doesn’t matter now you are saying one coach is a good coach. If coaching doesn’t matter than all coaches are the same including Swasey for Feely or Moffit.
Still would like to know how 46 blue chippers needed an unforced safety to beat App State!
Why? You mean to tell me we can’t hire another coach that currently has a job? Last I checked, Manny worked for Temple when we hired him as HC and Mississippi State when he was hired as DC.
Yes but still major holes on his defense…It’s year 3. DE/CB/MLB shouldn’t all be average or worse in Year 3. By sophomore year kids HAVE to be ready in cfb nowadays. Whole team of sophomores no…And yes I believe there are recruiters now. But you have to mesh them with guys who can teach as well and the jury is out there.
Again I’m not in the fire Diaz fan club by any means. I think there is good and bad though. I’m neutral but I believe there is too much coming out flat at times…“Coming out flat” can be a cliche at times for sure… but the way his team plays when they are better is not good and needs to improve.
