Miami couldn’t beat ACC Coastal teams during Golden’s run yet we had tons of NFL talent on the roster.
Have you ever watched a youth game of sports? How about 5-8 year olds playing soccer? It looks like rugby with every kid going for the ball, no spacing, no scheme… Move up to the teen years and watch a baseball game. Kids not knowing to hit the cut-off man. Not knowing where to go with the ball for each pitch. Move up to HS football, kids don’t know down or distance let alone what the D is going to do. Move up to college football, some kids start to grasp with good coaching but there aren’t 128 Brady’s walking on the field each year. Hell, even Brady wasn’t a starter in college until his Junior year and wasn’t named a starter the first game of his NFL career. There is always something to learn to get better. Brady is likely 100x wiser today than he was at 18. Do you think he learned that all on his own? The wise player who never talked with anyone!

AROD as a Junior in HS did nothing against our team and almost lost the game for WM with two field errors. Not saying he wasn’t good but he wasn’t ARoid until his Senior year. Did you play against gulliver prep? They had a good team as well, can’t remember their pitchers name but he had some talent as well. That district had 3 top 25 teams at the time.
AS for coaching vs talent… you talk about actually coaching kids up and running full court presses for 40 minutes. Why would you want to do a thing like that? I mean 12 year olds already know the game! Heck, you knew how to operate an NFL offense at 11!
We can keep going in circles. Talent is more important than coaching but Coaching fucking matters. Do you really believe someone is born with the knowledge to play sports? I can get on-board with people knowing how to reproduce but play complex sports requires someone to teach them.
