More big name star talent this year, than I can every remember?! Serious question though, cause this ain’t part of my wheelhouse!
It has never been unusual for us to land a DL, DE or a Safety. It has always been hard for us to get a Great LB outside of Jessie Armstead and DJ Williams. Most of our top LB’s were tweeners in HS. Has been hard for us even beforeRumph to attract top Corners. FSU and LSU always signed the name guys.
What we really need are 4-5 star OL’s. And then a proper QB to lead us.
Best class since 2008 which had 3 5-star kids and 13 4-star kids. That class never amounted to much so lets not get too hyped about one class and focus on 2020+2021+2022+2023 as a bunch.
2019- 7 4star, 11 3-star
2020- 10 4-star, 11 3-star
2021- 2 5-star, 11 4-star, 8 3-star (3 spots left)
I’d also focus on the needs. 2021 is a great class EXCEPT for the MASSIVE miss at CB. That alone should drop the class to a B grade. Beyond that: Offense addressed almost every spot but I’d like one more OL. Defense addressed almost every spot except CB. Sure we could have landed more elite kids like Turner, Hood, Marshall on D but overall we landed a ton of talent.
Freshman can star at Corner if everyone else is strong. Look at LSU last year.
We should not have missed at corner like we did but if we were going to miss, corner is the spot to miss on.
We got OL’s and DL’s. Most import parts of the team to win bowl games.
And we got a kicker for 4 years.
This is why I asked the COVID question in another thread. I’m trying to figure out if some of these guys actually come here in a non-COVID year.
Can this staff recruit or have we been lucky from the circumstances?
A little of both. Circumstances haven’t hurt us as much as others, but need a staff to capitalize on it which they did
Both…And it doesn’t hurt that Lashlee showed a new product on offense and that we didn’t lose to bad teams this year.
