NO WHERE TO STUGOTZS ALL THE BULLSHIT IS COMING OUT…
They don’t care Storm. Trump is Hitler to them.
Imagine posting that Hitler’s tax plan helped middle class Germans. Lol.
There is nothing Hitler can do to gain approval.
It’s truly unbelievable…Even if that article has skew
They don’t care.
There’s surely a lot of political smearing going on with stuff like this.
This study is only looking at 2018, which is the first year with the biggest breaks. I don’t think anyone denies there were breaks, but these lower drastically every year. In some cases, like mine, taxes went up.
One of the main sticking points that Dems want to undo is the corporate tax rate, which this study ignores. (This study only looks at personal income tax.)
Not directed toward you 305, but the corporate tax rate argument is total BS. The reason I say this is that companies can just shift their costs elsewhere. Ultimately, they can avoid the burden of the higher taxes while individuals can’t as easily.
Right- all a high corporate tax does is 2 things.
- Raise costs for consumers as companies pass their cost.
- Export American labor abroad where tax rates are more favorable.
I mean, there is no “corporate tax rate argument.”
What there is is a number. It used to be X, Trump changed it to Y, and Biden wants to move it to Z.
So yes, we can discuss which number is best for the country. Is lower always better? Then why isn’t it 0? No, it needs to be something? Then how high should it go?
That’s all the discussion is. There’s no BS in sight, just math, and returns, and projections. So feel free to propose a number if you like.
Increasing the corporate tax rate is not good policy IMO because of the reasons GSC mentioned. It doesn’t help the middle class.
Trump’s tax cuts did benefit the middle class.
The BS I’m referring to is the spin that increasing the corporate tax rate is a good measure for our country.
So should the corporate tax rate be 0? You haven’t made a proposal yet.
I don’t know what the right number is but I think corporations are taxed too much as it is. I’m not in favor of increasing it.
Yes-
It’s already a double tax.
A company isn’t an entity in my opinion. It’s shareholders are the taxable entities.
The amount of times governments tax the same dollar is insane.
How so? I don’t know anything about this subject so honestly asking.
I assume payroll is deducted from profits and isn’t taxed twice.
Shareholders are taxed twice.
The first taxation occurs at the company’s year-end when it must pay taxes on its earnings.
The second taxation occurs when the shareholders receive the dividends** , which come from the company’s after-tax earnings. The shareholders pay taxes first as owners of a company that brings in earnings and then again as individuals, who must pay income taxes on their own personal dividend earnings.

Then that same money is taxed when the shareholder goes out and buys a product. It is taxed again when the shareholder dies.
Taxation in this country, and most countries, is out of control.
There should be one tax, on the demand side, and that’s it.
You buy something, you pay a tax.
No income tax. No corporate tax. No excise tax. No inheritance tax.
All forms of legal theft that should be banned.
It is a nice ideal and would simplify the hell out of things. I don’t know how feasible it is.
You mean an opinion piece written by Justin Haskins, of the Heartland Institute, which was founded in 1984 having been built to discredit the health risks of secondhand smoke and lobbying against smoking bans? You’re talking about a “think tank” literally built to pass out disinformation and now is the leading climate change denier using the same methods it did with smoking?
That’s what you want to list as your source material, huh? It even cites itself as it’s own proof.
Let’s not forget, after 2025, individual tax cuts expire
But here’s the thing: After 2025, all individual tax cuts are set to expire. At the same time, corporate rate cuts are made permanent under the bill.
That’s quite a statement, that corporations should pay zero tax. Tell me, if you believe that, then you believe we should eliminate any opportunity for corporations to spend on elections, right? Being that you believe corporations are not entities, or “people.” I mean, a corporation, by definition, is an entity…but you’ve never let definitions get in your way of thinking
Yes- I’m not a Citizens United fan.
I don’t believe in publicly funding campaigns however.
Only individuals who have beating hearts should be able to fund and there should be limits.
Super Pacs and corporate funding should be banned.
I don’t believe it falls under freedom of speech as the courts have interpreted.
Look at that Warden! Unlike you I can concede and agree to positions.
I think GSC’s being consistent with his position here. It’s just a radical departure from our current system and I don’t know that we’ll ever get to that point.
I might be fine with lowering the corporate tax rate to 0, but only if they fix corporations first. that really is the larger issue being discussed.
Viable. I have often wondered if that was possible with Trumpkins.
