Inflation rose less than expected last month despite Trump’s tariffs

Isn’t that amazing?

I thought some in here were saying that tariffs would invariably lead to more inflation? What happened? Que paso? Che e successo?

I’ll ask in more languages if needed. Really hoping the Dream Team doesn’t skip this one.

Nah, let’s discuss it, yes?

First, let’s set the groundwork. How did we do overall in Q1 2025?

GDP shrunk.

Regarding inflation

But, Trump’s tariffs, right? Well, he’s changes his tariffs 22 times in 130 days. That’s an average of at least once a week. So, my question is…what tariffs? In fact, what deals?

Wasn’t the intent on manufacturing? How’s that going?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-05-01/us-manufacturing-activity-shrinks-by-the-most-since-november

Weird, right? Well, let’s get that manufacturing to grow, right? That’s what we need. Oh wait…we have how many open manufacturing jobs in the US right now?

The Conference Board’s leading economic index dropped for 5 straight months

I mean, we’re getting good data, right?

I wonder where that growth is at. Where are the 90 deals in 90 days? “This month isn’t as bad as they thought” isn’t really an economic mountaintop achievement you were looking for is it?

Bhahah….He said dream team. Perfect

What tariffs? The ones Trump canceled?

Someone needs to get you a dictionary or thesaurus bro. You keep confusing paused and cancelled.

I bet you you’d know the difference if your job cancelled your job as opposed to paused it.

@Warden84 - it’s a nice attempt to broaden the issue to make it fit your terms. Let’s simply deal with inflation on this thread. No straw men or red herrings here please.

Please revise and only tackle inflation please and then I’ll respond.

And you’re deflecting from the point, so I’ll ask again:

What tariffs? The ones Trump PAUSED?

See how that doesn’t change the argument? Unless you’re insinuating paused tariffs can lead to inflation?

Thank you for modifying your intentionally deceitful statement.

Trump paused “reciprocal tariffs.”

He kept baseline tariffs in place.

These baseline tariffs enacted on liberation day did not cause inflation.

Sure, baseline tariffs didn’t cause inflation in a month. What the vast majority of people were criticizing was the crazy reciprocal tariff fiasco.

It seems like you’re the one being intentionally deceitful by pretending like baseline tariffs = reciprocal tariff shit show. Trump backed off BEFORE he destroyed the economy.

Don’t move the goal post. People were criticizing his tariffs before the notion of reciprocal tariffs were brought up. It was a steady drum beat in the campaign.

The economy is not good. Trump continues to manipulate the economy by putting tariffs on and off these other countries. He has been a complete and utter disaster in his second term. We will not feel the full force of his decisions for a while. What has he accomplished?

Stock manipulation…

You just responded. Go fuck your whore mother. You don’t set the terms. You haven’t been honest or sincere on a single subject a day in your life.

False. That’s a lie. Those tariffs were never “reciprocal” tariffs. That’s an intentionally deceitful statement, a lie.
He put a blanket 10% tariff on all imports, plus country specific add-ons. Those add-ons were calculated using bilateral trade deficits, not quoting actual foreign tariffs. He ignored actual tariffs in partner countries, even if those with zero or minimal tariffs. Thus, the tariffs were not truly reciprocal; they were primarily a tariff hike disguised as matching foreign duties.

Again, a lie. They were not reciprocal tariffs.

You’re the one shifting the argument here. The “baseline tariffs” didn’t even exist before the reciprocal tariffs. Beforehand, Trump raised the tariff on steel and metals. He also put in “fentanyl tariffs” on China and Mexico/Canada. People did complain about the harsh penalties on our neighbors, and those were folded into the reciprocal tariffs.

That reciprocal tariff fiasco is the main thing everybody complained about, even Trump supporters. To try to spin it any other way is denial.

Everyone complained so much that Trump had to reverse course.

Yes, Trump has promised massive across-the-board tariffs from before his term. I’m not sure what your point is.

After I fuck yours you punk.

Don’t apologize to me in DM’s later you faggot.

You’re so fragile, little bitch. Also, I’ve never apologized to you.You lied about that as well

Lol ^^
