What a waste of a CFP seed…
Couple things:
1 Could we not have been better than this IU team in this game? Lord, we’d have at least been more fun to watch. ND can thank God that Alabama didn’t get in and that they were not the opponent tonight.
2 Having said this, notice how the bracket is kind of set up for the Irish on the bottom half? Gave them what I think will be the weakest team in the field, a UGA team who of the top contenders is the only one on THAT SIDE of the bracket and they’re probably facing life without their QB. Meanwhile, they throw Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Ohio State on the other side from them.
3 So if ND gets by a hobbled UGA, they’d then get the Boise, PSU, SMU winner in ROUND FRIGGIN’ THREE! (yep, more fraud teams still playing)
So what’s your take on this ND team? They did run all over IU but IU for an 11-1 team had their share of weak opponents. OSU housed them and Michigan nearly beat them. My feeling is that NO TEAM will EVER win an NC in any year they count Northern Illinois as a loss on their schedule. I’ll stick with this notion, but tell me…how far does ND go? Is Riley Leonard a good enough QB to take out UGA with that run game supporting him or not? God forbid they make the friggin’ TITLE GAME! Please tell me this isn’t even an option.
Notre Dame always benefited from bias from ranking voters and now the playoff committee as well. It has been that way since Rockne was their coach.A good team that went 11-1 but they lost to a bad MAC team at home and had a relatively easy schedule.
Indiana was 11-1 but had an easy schedule. I don’t believe they belonged in the playoffs.
The playoff committee and rankings voters should give much more weight to strength of schedule than they presently do. They are far too enamored of W/L records IMHO.
Miami has no one to blame but itself for not making it into the Final 12. It dumped two of its last three games to good, but not great, teams, albeit narrowly. Its poor defense (the back 7 in particular) was its undoing.
See, this is the stuff that frustrates me. Not directed at the posters by the way. Lane Kiffin needs to shut his mouth, for one. Look at the NFL, you are going to have a team or two who can make the playoffs at 500 or even a game under 500 and then get blown out. It is what it is. NO ONE will be happy unless it’s all SEC or Big Ten teams. That’s Kiffin’s beef, his beloved SEC should have been in the game and not Indiana.
This crap will happen every year. It’s a joke, and by that I mean have you heard the committee explain how they choose teams? Team A has two losses but is better than Team B because even though Team B is undefeated their schedule was weak so Team A beat a team that Team B beat by 24, Team B only beat them by 10, etc…It’s so stupid.
I’m happy Indiana was in the game, they deserved it. Alabama did NOT with 3 losses.
As for us, its ONLY our fault, up 21-0 and we lose, no one to blame but us.
