I’m in NJ. My wife had a person in her family have a vaccine reaction 20 years ago and is mentally retarded now. Group home- will be ward of the state when his family passes.
We’ve made a decision to defer all vaccinations of our children (in reality I’m ok with it but I support my wife’s decision to defer).
So each year I have to write and send in an exemption letter to the schools for my kids. My fear is that they will do away with the exemption. There has already been talk about it in our state from the legislature but they punted it. It’ll rear it’s ugly head again and then when they do it- it’ll be homeschooling for all of them.

@GardenStateCane - was it proven that the vaccine caused the disability? How old were they when they got it? What vaccine was it?
It’s not my claim. It’s my wife’s. Her mother is convinced it was the vaccine. Her whole family is convinced. Not me. I wasn’t there at the time.
But essentially there were a couple of different things going on.
First, when he was being born, the doctor was on vacation. Apparently the on call doctor gave her some kind of medication that disrupts the contractions and makes the labor stop. I always tell her it could be related to that? Who knows.
They believe it was the DPT shot. Apparently he got very I’ll immediately after the shot. Fevers and within a day or 2 seizures. The seizures continued until he was 5 or 6. They were so bad that they caused permanent brain and neurological damage. He is also autistic and goes into fits of rage.
Anyway, I’m not, have never been, and will never be “anti vaccine.”
My concern over the COVID vaccine is mostly with children. I just see no medical need for it when you look at the numbers. They were never in any danger.
I also think the myocarditis in adults is a real thing but for some the risk outweighs the reward. It should be 100% voluntary and private. That’s my stance.

I had some pause in getting my kids vaccinated- it’s a natural thing to be concerned about - until I spoke to a pharmacist/pediatrician.
And you’re right - that young - thankfully - COVID isn’t much of a danger.
