Nice comeback only to completely blow it in the end.
So, with Miami up 28-23 and on the 3rd and 4 at midfield when Mallory caught a pass for a gain of 3 … how the hell wasn’t he on the first down side of the sticks when he caught the pass? That’s fundamental football. Didn’t see the play just the description. If he gets the first down, it’s game over.
Meaningless game except for bragging rights. But, If this loss gets Manny and Blake fired, it was well worth it.
Stupid not to have the receiver beyond the sticks in that situation. That’s on Lashlee or TVD depending on what the scheme was.
Disgusting way to lose to your biggest rival.
If Miami can afford it, they should fire both Diaz and Blake and hire someone who knows what the F they are doing as AD. They won’t but these clowns have no clue. The recruiting class speaks volumes.
I probably can make a case to go for it on 4th and a long 1 there… You’re on their 46 I believe? You 2 timeouts, them 2…Try not to give them it back, you know your defense stinks
The goal line is a toss up. They were on the 2 or a little inside…Really a toss up there btw let them score and play defense.
Staff needs to recruit their ass off right now…Stewart is gone. Blissainthe and Kelly or this cycle is a couple corners and a complete bust everywhere else.
Agree. This and the 3rd and 4 play call to Mallory were big misses. 3 TOs (in the first quarter?), down 17-0, this team came back great, but shame they didn’t close it out
I actually can live with the play call…Mallory is just a robot. Get the fuck upfield.
I mean I see some of your arguments and can think of other calls as well. I don’t love it, but didn’t think it was was end of the world. Shoulda went on 4th.
Agree. It’s pretty much pick your poison. He trusted Hedley to start them deep in their territory. Felt like half the coverage team fell for the returner’s fake. Should have easily had them within their 5yd line. No guarantee that makes a difference.
Ultimately should never have been in that situation going down like we did and giving them any type of hope
