I gotta say this...there are really only three things I've been exited or amped for, since our last title run!

Since our last title, this is my heaven. Literally only 3 F’ing things in 22+ years=

2017 FSU last second win
2017 ND ass kicking
2024 Florida ass kicking…Today is the first time since our last title, I can say we have talent on par with the best of the best. YES, I know it’s Florida, but it was so pedestrian and calm and easy of an ass kicking. Hell we didn’t play amazing, and there were issues…BUT kicked the shit outta em.

This is fucking awesome! I honestly think we play with ANYONE on the National stage.

I always temper all expectations. Plus, let’s play a little game…

Welcome Texas and Oklahoma into the SEC. Now, write down all of the different schools. Next, break it into TWO lists - the TOP half and the BOTTOM half. Now tell me, where do you have FLORIDA? Me?

TOP
Georgia
Texas
Alabama
Mississippi
Louisiana State
Tennessee
Missouri
Oklahoma

Bottom
Texas A&M
Auburn
Kentucky
Arkansas
Florida
Mississippi State
South Carolina
Vanderbilt

See? This isn’t a great UF team at all. Napier is a goner in all likelihood before the year even ends. UF has been out of contention for anything since Tebow left there after '09 and it’s getting worse. A nice win, but one you EXPECT to get if you’re any good at all. So I say enjoy and on to next week. but let’s not daydream too much about this one. Hell, UCF is liable to beat them too.

And I hope they do. Soundly at that.

But this felt good even if the gator meat is sour.

Whether UF is good - Miami went on the road and dominated a team who has not lost at home in an opener in a long time. What a nice win.

After going to four practices this spring this team felt different.

Yo, but that’s what I’m saying. Florida has a lot of talent and they are NOT that good. We literally boat raced them and it looked like a scrimmage ass kicking. Every other Canes team the past 20 years would have kept them in this game.

Besides, everybody hates the gator so we should just enjoy for now. We’ve earned it.

The fact the Gators have a 450 pound DL playing for them should be a sign that Billy should not be a head coach.

I’m admittedly jaded the past few seasons. I watched with one eye and was waiting for the fail…. I was pleasantly surprised.

My notes:

Cam played with amazing poise. Almost scary poise sometimes (like when he almost allowed that late hit early).

Offensive line was amazing in protection. Didn’t see any penalties and they gave Cam all day to operate.

Running backs ran down hill and seemed stronger and quicker than years past.

Our defense looks legit.

Love our receivers. Lots of talent there.

Imagine if we could have kept Colbie Young away from Georgia too!

And a big what if on Jeremiah Smith. He was just about to pick Miami.

If Cam didn’t waver and signal that he was going to the NFL, we might have Smith.

Shame we didn’t get Smith and Colbie left early, but our receivers are still substantially better than most. Dawson called a very good game this time around. It was great seeing TEs being used. Arroyo is an incredible talent at the position, and is a major tackling problem for small defensive backs.

*Cam Ward makes everybody look good. Cam is Heisman good. I was critical of the one back formation in the redzone, but in the second half they made an adjustment and put in another back. Dawson has improved in my eyes. They players like him as well.

We still need to adjust the rushing game. I’d like to see more plays outside of tackle where we double team the defenders to the inside. Florida did that to us twice and it was textbook execution on their part and accounted for their big running play. Additionally, Id like to see more two RB formations that I think enhance deception, or just good RPO option plays. I love the Veer offense. I think having an extra blocker at the point of attack can lead to some chunk rushing plays.

*Lastly, I love speed. I’d like to see some Johnson in the game. If Chris Johnson has decent hands, I’d like us to use him like Saban used Henry Ruggs. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has the wheels to keep up with Johnson coming straight over the line of scrimmage and putting on the jets. Hiding him in a two-man backfield would have him covered by LBs whom he’d leave in the dust.

*Tyler Baron was a great portal get. He was impressive against the Gators as was safety Jaden Harris who played a whale of a game. Shame about the injury to Bain.
