I Don't Get It

Why did Cam even show up today if he was planning to sit out the second half?
I don’t see a point. He broke a career TD record that will be broken again in a couple of weeks.
His draft stock is unaffected by it. Why take all the first team reps in practice and risk injury if you are going to quit mid-game? Kind of a jerk move IMHO.

The game was lost the minute Cam quit on the team. He should have just stayed home.

Emory William just plain sucks. He is a serviceable backup at best. He is not starting QB material and never will be.

I was never one to say Mario should be fired but I’m getting there. Next season may well be Mario’s last at Miami unless his buyout is so large it prevents him from being fired. He is getting paid way too much to be mediocre. If the team isn’t a lot better in a year or two, adios Mario.

He can recruit but he isn’t much of a coach outside of recruiting. He seems to be a difference maker only for the other team.

Unless Miami scores a great QB in the portal, they are a 6 or 7 win team next year.

And without Cam Ward, Miami would have won only 6 or 7 games this season despite having a relatively easy schedule.

Anyway, once again, I find myself disgusted. Thank God I stopped watching the games live. Otherwise, I’d be in the loony bin.

I too am very disappointed in Cam’s second half no show. It basically takes the luster off his tenure at Miami. Take the records and the NFL, in fact you did quit on your team. That’s undeniable. [EDIT: And every online sports outlet has Cam missing the second half as their lead story. With Mario doling out the usual coachspeak word salad.]

I’d have to scrutinize the schedule harder but six or seven wins sounds about right. Nowhere near this year. There appears to be a lack of player leadership and accountability in addition to poor coaching. If every player who thinks they might get drafted bails after they have provided sufficient highlights then college football really is amateur. The players might as well be quaffing beers on the sidelines during games and chatting up the hotties.

Not a fan of this new NIL professional college sports thing.

Coach L said immediately after the Final Four run in 2022, 8 players told him them were entering the portal to seek a bigger payday. That’s more than half the team. I’m surprised he lasted two more years.

Buckle up. Because he’s the guy next season.

Should be fun

I liked Emory coming out of high school but he is probably a kid who should have gone to to a school like James Madison and worked his way up. This is the problem with taking high school QB’s. Guys like Emory never see the field as freshman. Mac Jones was a wing-t qb in hs. He sat four years at Alabama before being handed the keys. GSC, I don’t believe for a second that Emory is going to be the QB. Just don’t see it. I have been personally told they are looking at other options. I expect someone else other then Emory to start next season.

As for Mario this team was flawed…and the major flaw was the secondary. You want to blame Mario for that then go ahead. The team also lacks an elite pass rusher. They need one guy who can get after it on the edge. I personally feel the team is much better on paper next year. The OL will have a ton of starts. They have two very good running backs coming back. Trader showed out. They bring in Daniels. The TE room looks good. Loftin is a stud. They have brought in some very good portal players on the back end. Get a QB and Miami will once again be in the race for the ACC.

I do agree that Cam quit on the team but this is college football now.

Elite- thank you for this sober and spot on analysis.

I was only reacting to Skeeter’s comment about Emory. I too, feel he’s not a Miami level QB. (Third stringer in my opinion).

Who are you hearing we have on the docket for QB. It’s honestly all I care about.

Agreed. Like, I understand the kid has to look out for himself and everything, but had Cam stayed in we would have easily won this game and we would have an 11-win season for the first time in how long? And a bowl win isn’t too shabby for us either.

Him playing 1 or 2 more drives of football for us would have cemented a better UM legacy for him.

Under the new rules, there is no loyalty to your school at all. These kids are mercenaries plain and simple.

College football in more NFL than the NFL now because these kids are permanent free agents.

Schools should make them sign contracts guaranteeing they will show up and play if healthy.

Wasn’t thrilled that Restrepo opted out either but at least he didn’t play the first half and then say
F you to his teammates.

NIL is going to ruin college sports.

This is next in the evolution of college sports

Part of the contracts is these kids playing in the bowl games moving forward.

Gsc, i was told miami is trying to make a run at mccord if he can get cleared by the ncaa. Miami is closer to being elite since butch left. I know the season did not end well but you win in the trenches. Miami will have an elite OL. You get the kid from tcu and he anchors the line. Miami needs to be a little more ball controlled so you can take pressure off the defense. I think the program is heading in the right direction. When i went to spring practices and all the qbs were lighting up the secondary i had some concerns.

Damien Martinez going pro, one and done.

And in the “good luck with that” department…

"UConn coach Jim Mora plans to “pursue all avenues” against teams that tamper with Huskies players, warning such teams to “think hard before you tamper with our players.”

In response to DL Pryce Yates entering the portal early December, withdrawing, then reentering after winning defensive MVP in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl. (I mean that right there has gotta be $2.4M, right?)

This would be a huge get.

I’ll just say this here and now, and y’all can call me out next year to eat crow if I’m wrong.

No fucking way we win more than 7 games next year.

None of these kids brought in from the staff have gotten better, the better talent have been transfers. We will be out spent and recruiting is meaning less and less. Developing and game management will be the needed magic now “we clearly do not have that kind of staff”, unless there are guardrails put on NIL and transfer limits.

Hold up man, I love ya brother, but holllld up.

The linebackers got lost in space all year long and offenses ran the same motion ass plays mixed up since GT and nobody in that linebacker group was in the vicinity when needed. That coupled with a supposed top 5 defensive line, THAT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING all year long. The entire defense was a mess. They can’t even line up correctly on an elementary level, like blame the D coord and fire him, but holy shit, we saw guys line up against an unbalanced line multiple times a game all year long and not match up correctly. What a fuking circus of unexcusable issues.

Again, we have an entire staff dedicated to NEEDING the players to fit their system and CAN’T adapt to put any of their players in a position to win, or cover their weaknesses. Disgusting

Notre Dame
Florida
at Southern Methodist
at Virginia Tech
Louisville
at Florida State
at Pittsburgh
Syracuse
North Carolina State

with South Florida, Stanford and Bethune-Cookman being the other three games.

Yeah, seems like seven wins might be about it…or maybe they don’t even get to that.

Who do you think we beat to get those 6-7 wins.

South Florida, Louisville, NC State, Stanford, Bethune-Cookman and Syracuse–as long as McCord comes here.

Sheeeeit, I may have to actually say 5-6 wins max. It’s going to be ugly.

Schedule check…I’d actually be surprised if we get bowl eligible, then for only half the roster not to play in the bowl game, come next year. So they can get drafted in the 6th round or a free agent signings. Shit is so stupid all around.
