I’m using a phone to be on here as my desktop computer is old. On it I use the latest Firefox but my operating system is beyond old. Without warning the other day this board changes over and I’m shut out. Anyone else have this happen? Probably not if your operating system is newer.
Guess I’ll be buying a new computer soon. Meanwhile at the top here there’s a link to Firefox extended support. Haven’t installed it yet but for now will that do the trick for my desktop computer? I’m just curious about it as it seems like Firefox wants to update my browser every week and I always do so, so shouldn’t it have directed me to their extended support browser all this time?
Mostly I’m posting this so the host will know there may be many who can’t get on this week. Kind of an interesting week to do this with week 1 here. I mean, why not do this during the dead summer? Let me know if anyone had issues or is it just me with my old Commodore Vic 20 (kidding) having issues.
TMC ..before buying a new computer why not just install (or have some kid install) Linux Mint or Zorin Linux on your old computer. It’ll take less than 30 minutes to do and it will save you money.
My machines are a couple of old Dell desktops (2) that I use with Zorin and Mint. I suggest these two because they are easy to run. I also have a Win 11 computer (which the lady of the house demands) but any of the two types of linux will save you the headaches you’re currently having.
@TMC Linux Mint Cinnamon is the the GOAT, but for folks familiar with Windows, and looking for a ‘lighter’ implementation that may work better with older hardware (because it is not as resource heavy as Cinnamon), Linux Mint XFCE is a great choice. I think you would be hard-pressed to identify a piece of software for Windows you can’t find an alternative for Linux Mint.
Maybe I should rephrase…Copying and pasting a link. I dm’d you too. If I get the time I’ll go into a further explanation, but it’s whatever. I know you aren’t doing this for money lol, so don’t want you o take up too much of your time.
The forum software upgraded so maybe they changed how links work a little? It really depends what you mean because I can Ctrl+C to copy a link somewhere and Ctrl+V to paste it in here and it works fine. So if you can be specific about how you are copying and how you are pasting and which part is giving you trouble and what the trouble is that would be cool. Also I imagine the interface works differently if you’re on mobile versus desktop.
I don’t mind looking into it whenever I can. As long as I have the info I can at least try. It’s not a problem.
@305 …I think it’s ok now…I must have accidentally clicked that “A” in the top left corner that takes me to some type of “rich editor format”…. When I would try to paste nothing would happen, the cursor would simply move to the next line.
But I re-clicked (didn’t know I had clicked in first place) that to I guess turn it off, and it’s back to normal.
