His last year at the U he was backing up Mark Walton who was a year behind him and rushed for over a 1,000 yards that season. If Walton wasn’t such s knuckle head he probably would have had a better career in the NFL than Edwards. Joe Yearby and Travis Homer were on the roster as well.
Gus suffered a bad foot injury which cost him some playing time early on. He also seemed to be the Seantrel Henderson of running backs. Dogged it at Miami and started putting a lot more effort out once there was money on the line. Miami tried to use him as a big back in short yardage situations but that never seemed to work out because he wouldn’t lower his shoulders and run over people. Frankly, Miami had better options including Walton who would be in the NFL if he wasn’t such an idiot.
