Gulp!......UGA......Penn State

We can only hope.

How bad is it that we have to resort to rooting for * in the title game? :face_vomiting:

If it comes down to * and ND I hope they get a fast acting stomach bug and both teams shit themselves on tv.

If ND wins it all, according to the UCF rule, Northern Illinois is the true national champion!!!

I can’t watch this game at the moment tonight. Stats seem like it’s more like the Michigan game for OSU. I see Jeremiah Smith with 1 catch for 3 yards. What’s up with that? How’s Texas keeping this close?

If Texas had any sort of offense this game was over. Their D did their job for the most part.

Suck it, Catholics! 34-23 bytches! Let’s bend 'em over on August 30! Get us ready, Mario!!! :skull_and_crossbones:

Would you mind sharing how you really feel?

Got carried away on this last night. They don’t win the game yet Lou Holtz is talking about how they’ll win “more than one title” in the next 10 years. Tony Rice says he “never thought he’d see the day” and it was time to pass the torch to another team. Sure hope both of these were BEFORE the game because they DIDN’T WIN last night. They get to start 0-0 next year like everyone else and have try to make the climb all over again.

Maybe they can, but maybe not too! Freeman might end up being better than Brian Kelly was there but we don’t know that yet. Kelly got to 12-0 the 3rd season there and got routed by Alabama in the end. Then they fell back to 8-5, then 9-4 then 4-8 before making another run into the 4 team playoff. Once there, Clemson beat them 30-3. Their alumni, their fans seem to act like they’re always destined to win it but getting close isn’t winning it and that 12 team bracket SUCKED on the bottom part they were in. That’s how Notre Dame and Penn State survived to the semifinals. The top had OSU, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee and Arizona State. The bottom had Boise, SMU and Indiana in with a hobbled UGA.

I don’t think the Irish are 2nd like the polls show today either. They were just the last team to play Ohio State. Oregon had to face them first game. I think they and Texas are better than ND. Top was loaded, bottom of the bracket…not so much. Hell, Freeman might be good or he might end up the coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars by the end of the week, who knows? But their supporters always think they’re about to dominate the landscape and they’re always wrong. I guess it got the better of me as so many of them act like “they’re back” and this is going to be the new normal. I’m not so sure yet.

That’s my explanation on my post from last night. Try it again next year, Irish. You ain’t there just yet!

The most overrated team that ever existed!

ND were in the playoffs due to branding AND their desire to remain independent. One could argue they did not belong in the CFP. If ND had any sort of passing game they could have won the game.

That being said, as a 'Canes fan, how could you pull for either team last night. Glad it’s over.

I guess the way I justify it is that we had lost NCs to both teams. The Lamers just screw teams who go into their place. You just have to play better to overcome the refs. Ohio State won an NC over us but I take more exception to a ref throwing a flag in the back of the end zone when the side judge said basically, “no foul” and the game should have ended. That’s a bad decision on his part, not so much on the Buckeyes who got to take advantage.

But after this playoff, to hear the ND fans acting like they’ve arrived or something because the played Army, Navy, UVA, FSU, USC, Stanford and got the favorable bracket position in the bottom half…I just went off on the whole thing. Let’s see 'em do it each year…and see if their coach hangs around to keep running it back. After Biran Kelly lost to Alabama in year 3, he interviewed for the Eagles job a couple days later that went to Chip Kelly eventually. Let’s see if Freeman wants to fly or try to make another run at it again.

Their next try might not be as “convenient” either so we’ll just have to see, thought the powers that be always seem to “look out” for them, so who knows?

I didn’t even watch it. I refused to do so.

If Ryan Day loses his job (unlikely of course right now) but if/when he does, Marcus Freeman will be the new head coach. He’s done a pretty good job at ND.
