Two unexpected wins in a row against very good Top 20 teams.
Did not see that coming.
If the kid had made a chip shot against UVA, Miami is 5-3. And and a few more points against UNC and Miami is 6-2 with its only losses to two Top 10 teams.
Not great but things are looking up. Miami could easily win 3 of its last four games, maybe even all four given how well TVD is playing. Should be able to handle GT, FSU and Duke. VT may be a challenge. Win 2 at least and be bowl eligible.
Given the injuries to key players, I don’t see Manny being fired for 6-6 or better. We’ll see.
Didn’t watch the game but will catch the highlights on Youtube. Looked at the stats though and checked the score late in the first half and then later in the game. I expected Pitt to win by 20.
I watched the game summary on YouTube. Miami was fortunate to escape with the win.
Pickett’s last pick with about 4 minutes remaining was a horribly errant pass; Jacory or Rosier-like in its sheer awfulness.
I can’t believe Mallory fumbled in that last second situation. What a loser move. And is there a worse blocking TE in the nation?
TVD played well. His only pick was when Harley fell down late in the game when Miami was inside the 50 and driving. He can’t run very well but runs better than Kaaya and Kosar ever did.
Seems to make the correct reads and get the ball to the right guy. 90% of being a good QB is not so much about making spectacular plays as it is about not screwing up.
I just hope Miami doesn’t go on to lose the games it should win; GT, FSU, Duke.
Not just 1 but 2 receivers fell down that play. TVD had to check down to #2 when #1 fell.
There were a few times in the game where he saw fast pressure coming and slipped the ball out quickly. that kind of play has been missing from Miami for 10 years.
Madstork, I agree with some of your points. saw the same thing.
Some other notes
I was hearing noise about Cory Flagg and now I see it. The guy is bad in open space. I thought it was a good take thinking he could get us recruiting in the Houston Market. Not worth it now.
Saw Chantz Williams play a few plays at DE. I know he is young but so uninspiring. How can he get any reps with a lack of effort like that? Really, how does a kid who looks like that get reps at all?
New Flash, Mallory can not block. Many people 2 years ago predicting he was a first round draft choice. Laughable today when you take out a couple of highlights and watch his whole film.
James Williams is completely overrated. Guy misses tackle after tackle. On his one pick at the end of the game he was flat footed with a WR running past him. Bad bad throw by the QB lets Williams get the turnover chain. Hope the kid improves because you know Manny is not going to pull him for the next 3 years. This is where I hope our bad luck with 5 stars stops. Hope they can get through to the kid that he is not all that. Looks the part but does not play the part. Yet.
I know it has been talked about that some wide receivers should not have played last year but now it really looks bad. Restrepo and Smith are dynamic. They did not become dynamic over the summer. They were good last year. The fact that Manny did not play the good young players in criminal. I just don’t get it. What did Pope have on the program? A classic case of a coaching staff trying to give every opportunity to kids from certain recruiting areas no matter the lack of results. We see it playing out at Corner. Now what do we really have at LB? Manny will not sit Flagg because of Texas potential.
TVD looking good and making throws that King never would have made. Give Manny credit for recruiting the kid. But no credit for playing the kid. Is Garcia better? Will we ever really know?
