The only reason I’m concerned about them is one reason and one reason only: Manny Diaz. If not for Manny, I would not be concerned. He has those boys believing in themselves. I think he learned a lot from his shortcomings at Miami. He was not ready for the job, and he was already behind the 8-ball because of the lack of support from the adminstration. Speaking of that, have we decided on whether or not we are going to build Kirk Herbstreit a statue? His blistering comments on Game Day are absolutely a contributing factor as to why we are where we are today. He spoke up, and then changes were made almost immediately.
A statue of Kirk would be so funny. Yes his comments have done more for the team than some of the past few coaches.
There’s only 1 reason why Miami is 7-0…. His name is Cam Ward. That’s it.
They better find a replacement for next season.
Without Cam this team may be 3-4 right now.
Doesn’t hurt that the new President of the university Echevarria is a friend of CMCs and was instrumental in bringing CMC back home.
We all feel this, but just like FSU where we should have hung 50+ on them, we didn’t. I see the same thing with Duke. Our Defense will give up some stupid scores and we’ll leave them in the game. IF we are as good as we are supposed to be, this game should be a blowout, yet I feel it’ll be a frustrating slog.
How is Miami favored by 20?
Anyone else think that line is nuts?
The line seems a little shocking but it makes some sense. It’s expecting Duke to score in the 20s and Miami to score in the 40s.
Besides Middle Tennessee (45), Duke has never scored higher than 26/27, and a couple of those were in OT. Any defense with a pulse should be able to contain them.
On the flipside, Miami’s 36 points against FSU last week was a season low, with perhaps Cam Ward’s worst performance of the year. Even then we won by 22, even after a garbage time TD.
Duke probably has the worst offense Miami has faced this year outside of FAMU. Duke can’t throw the ball. They have a nice running back but not much else. Manny has done a good job of finding ways to win. That team is terrible on offense. Cal and Louisville area good on offense. Virginia Tech is way better.
Meh…50’s really pushing it. FSU’s defense isn’t bad.
Because Duke is very, very fortunate to be where they are at…
So is Miami.
305’s analysis of the Duke game is excellent. They score 20 and we score 40. Only with a flurry of Hurricane errors, not out of the realm of possibility, can I see Duke prevailing. As a Hurricane fan I often feel like we’re waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop, and we’ll crap out in recent historic fashion. The specter that will ever haunt me is last year’s Georgia Tech game, one of the greatest faux pas in the history of college football, and we own it.
Duke is not a great team but this will be their Super Bowl so they have a shot if Miami sleep walks through the game. Hopefully, it is a blowout for Miami…
Manny will be very motivated.
True, Manny will be very motivated… I just think he and his players will write a check their ass can’t cash.
Miami 35
Duke 17
Can we just win ONE game with a blowout win and not give up more than 10 points?!?!?
It would be nice to relax and watch a game by blowing out teams we should blow out.
The Florida game was fun, and relaxing
Very much so!
Hey man I didn’t stress a wink during Ball State!
Great offense, suck defense was the Miami story in 2024. They scored 38 points today and still lost.
When you have to score 40+ every week to win, eventually you will come up short.
Syracuse isn’t a bad team but if Miami had a defense, Miami would have won the ACC and would be in the playoffs. But, they don’t have a defense and here we are.
At least we don’t have to watch them lose to SMU and/or get killed in the playoffs. Miami
had trouble against any team with a pulse and was fortunate to win 10 games.
Next year is a bit scary. No Cam Ward, no X and Miami loses one of the best kickers in college football. I don’t think any of the QB’s on the roster is a “difference maker” like Ward was.
Fix the damn defense, pick up the best transfer QB available and let’s see what happens next year.
In the meantime, enjoy Miami’s annual bowl game loss and Merry Christmas!!!
