Can our Oline hold up and receivers actually make plays?
I don’t trust our undersized linebackers and new D ends. Hoping they prove me wrong and pull some magic off Saturday!!
GO 'CANES!!

I was disappointed to see Wiggins over George. Rambo, Smith, Harley, X seem to be much better than Pope/Wiggins/Harley. Our OL has a ton of experience so it should hold up ok.
I was hoping Brooks + KSmith would be the starters at LB. Brooks is 230lbs which is a pretty good size for MLB in a 4/3. KSmith is undersized but FAST with good instincts. D Ends are a concern but we’ve also had 5 years with at least 1 DE producing 8 sacks. Harvey or C Williams are my picks.
Brooks is hurt
Huff is the disappointing one.
assuming Nelson is healthy enough, i think our OL is capable of giving King enough time.
mentioned it another thread, but our major problem in this game is Bama’s massive OL vs our tiny front 7. outside of our DTs, we are tiny up front and that spells disaster.
i predict bama will easily run for 300+ yards and likely much more based on how the UNC OL manhandled our D last season.
I’m ok with Bama running for 300yards so long as they don’t pass for 400yards and score 60! Manny has been known to give up yards while keeping the score manageable. Bama under 40 and I’d consider it a good Defensive performance. Heck, 50 would be good. Haha
It then comes down to our Offense having to score on most possessions, lower the mistakes, win the turnover battle.
I could see the time of possession 35/25. We have the depth on the front 4 to hang around.
I don’t trust our Dends or linebackers. IF they stop the 6-15 yard gashes in the first quarter, we will hang in there!
Close for 2 maybe 2.5 quarters
Then it gets ugly
Not quite at that level yet
Surely, Saban watched the North Carolina game. Our LBs are undersized and undertalented. Alabama has at least three RBs better than any of ours plus the QB is a threat rushing the football. The Tide will run the ball and pass only sparingly. IMO, Miami has a big LB problem. Our safeties will be making most of the tackles.
Saban is usually modest with praise, but he’s been gushing over this year’s Tide defense. They have three NFL caliber LBs led by Will The Terminator Anderson who will be one of the best EVER to play at Alabama. That’s a huge claim when you think Anderson will be in the company of Derrick Thomas, Lee Roy Jordan and, Cornelius Bennett. The Tide has a half dozen LBs better than any of ours. The Tide defense will render Miami one dimensional. King will be the most productive ball carrier. King is a warrior. One of my bitterest memories as a Canes fan came 1993 at the hands of Alabama, when Gene Stallings underdog Bama team just kept the ball on the ground in a National Championship game while their star defensive ends Copeland and Curry destroyed Heisman Winner Geno Toretta. That was also the game Lamar Thomas stopped talking after George Teague ignominiously stripped him of the football.
Unfortunately, I see a Clemson-like game with the Tide covering the spread. At this juncture, it’s prayer time. Pray for Tide turnovers.
Saban demoted stellar TE Jaheel Billingsley for loafing in practice.
I don’t disagree and have said Miami will not win. Bama hasn’t lost to a non-SEC team in the regular season since Saban’s first year. The goal should be to keep it respectable.
The big question: can Miami force Bama to throw the ball when it matters most in the red zone, Miami has a swingers chance of keeping it respectable. IF Miami can’t stop the run in the red zone, Bama will BLOW them out.
Close for 2 maybe 2.5 quarters? I love the optimism. I just don’t possess it.
How many of you wish we could have gotten this game out of the way two years ago instead of opting to play UF in Orlando to start the season? As large as the Tide is where it matters and reliving that UNC game which was literally the last regular season game we played, it’s really hard to summon much in the way of imagining how we could beat them. I’m not sure it’s even a stay close game. I hope it’s not a 52-6 USC kind of game.
I’m trying not to think about it …
Let’s hope they surprise us. I’d be thrilled with a tight competitive game that we lose. Just no embarrassing blowout.
if you remove the south Florida kids from Bama and add them to Miami who wins?
