This is being blown out of proportion, in my opinion. The same base hosts Singapore pilots as well. Other countries like to train pilots here because we have great terrain and conditions and space for it. It also doesn’t hurt that they are buying our jets.
You should watch the press conference and THEN comment. What’s being reported now is not what the Secretary of Defense said. He said Qatar will be building an air force base in Idaho, not going to train on the F15s we sold them on an existing base in Idaho.
I’m not shocked he didn’t know shit and just said it without understanding what he was saying, but that’s what he said. That is wildly different than what you’re talking about and what they are doing. And that is definitely something to worry about if it happened as he stated. That’s why everyone was up in arms. Also, Singapore doesn’t fund Hamas

We train a lot of foreign military pilots here in Pensacola. My neighbor was a Navy captain, Silver Star recipient, later an emeritus flight instructor at NAS. I posed the question to him about the quality of foreign pilots. His response was that there are two classes of pilot trainees: the Israelis and the others. The Israelis were light years ahead of all others, better even than most Americans. Saudis were the worst group of all.
