She’s basically saying, “we don’t like how conservative content is popular on Facebook, so we need to regulate it more.”

It’s not good. The plan will be to nationalize Facebook or to place some kind of government custodianship over it. Bad bad bad. Just look at our CIA or FBI to see how that will end up.
The plan should be to simply take away section 230 and open them up to lawsuits. End of story.
They’ll then either self regulate their policies or go out of business.

I don’t know what this means. The CIA and FBI will monitor FB no matter whether there is an imagined “custodianship” over it or not.
Haugen is advocating an exemption to 230 so they will be responsible for their algorithm. It’s not all the way, but it’s closer than we are now.
I see that as a net positive.

It means our institutions are corrupt and if we nationalize Facebook or put the government in charge of it it will follow that course.
It’s not up to Haugen. It’s up to Congress. And my fear, again, is they’ll go further than an exemption.

Just because activity is logged doesn’t mean there’s a human being reading through every line of it. By this logic, you would also ask, “How did this company get hacked? You think they don’t have security precautions in place?”
