Dopson re-classified to '26…. Heavy DB year as you can see. That is a big time top 5 imo, even by Sofla standards.

I am not really familiar with reclassifying. To my ears it sounds like “skipping a grade.” Do all these kids who might reclassify have the requisite high schools credits and grades plus test scores where applicable? Seems hard to do while playing football at such a high level.

If they remain a commit, yes, I agree!

Still need to load up on some DT and LB though.

Sounds like they will take 1 more LB, I wasn’t sure on that. LB is a position that the numbers don’t have to be as high as they used to be, because 3 LB aren’t on the field as much any more. They have 2 committed and I believe want 1 more, but maybe not urgent but more urgent with the loss of Hayes. There’s always the portal, and alot depends on whether guys like Bobby Washington, Chase Smith, and Bonner are still around next year or look for greener pastures.

Unfortunately sounds like Dopson may be gone for the time being…Flipping to UNC. The quote from someone supposedly close is UM db room loaded and UNC is backing up a brix truck worth a cash

Good sign that Belichick loves a DB though. His family is supposedly canes though(dad posts on another board) so I think there is still a decent chance he signs with UM. As I said he is supposedly reclassifying to this year’s class, and he is the top DB in Sofl regardless of class

Did not some research. It is sort of like skipping a grade but only after being intentionally “left back.” I guess anything for an edge. Makes me think how corrupt high school sports is getting. I suppose part of it is (in some/many situations) pushing kids through high school because they are athletes rather then students. So they have the opportunity to then reclassify a year ahead if they have the skill and the college interest. Always something.

Seems to me if you’re a top flight prospect, you’d be foolish not to take the best NIL deal possible. We’re talking about lifetime security versus the glory of playing for your favorite school. Some athletes who attend school out of loyalty, suffer an injury, and all they achieved in their college days is a degree, a thank you, and you’re on your own; have a good life. Hard to blame players intelligently offering their services.

If Miami deems this kid a “must have” prospect, they’ll probably have to offer dollars in addition to a scholarship. It’s an ineluctable decision. Most fans don’t like NIL. Certainly Saban despises it. Dabo is not a supporter, but NIL is a fairer process, for it rewards the talent, not the U, not the coaches, but the individuals who possess talent. Let’s face it, college football has morphed into really big business, and talentwise, you get what you pay for.

Ya it’s one thing Storm Front was dead nuts right on.

I mean I never really disagreed with with him on it, but I thought money could be the biggest factor for a lot of kids but that there would be a thing as “ballpark figures” or at least my idea of ballpark fig is different than anyone else’s. For many it’s close to dollar-to-dollar only factor

All this said, Skeeter, I’d be lying if I claimed not having nostalgia for the old system of playing for your school and having lifetime attachment to your Alma Mater.

Ya I absolutely hate the new CFB bikki, but unfortunately we can’t tell people to not get money. But yeah it’s ruining the game.

Moved Dopson up to 2026 class.

Sweeter, do we know if Miami actually offered safety Angelo Smith, Jeremiah’s brother from Chaminade? He committed to Ohio State, Rivals shows a Miami offer but the other offers are more from smaller programs. I’m curious if we actually did for ‘27.

Heh. I’m sure it was a typo or an ‘autocowrecked’, but it still made me chuckle.

Damn, I didn’t even see that. Been typing from my phone while on here.

Indeed hilarious

Just updating here as I added some new names

The real coommitable offers, the kids I believe can commit to UM today, and this is JMO are

Matthews
Lennear
Gamble
Thompson
Jones
Jones
Stevens (Although this is iffy, with all the transferring and possible diva stuff, it seems like there may be a parting of ways coming here soon)
Deroche
Nugent (I’d say he is the most questionable on this list)
Linton

In addition to those kids, the following have reportedly received offers. Obviously I believe many of these to be “interest offers” and not able to commit to UM

Vilma
Moreland
SBK
Gourdine
Alexander
Jennings
A.Jackson
B.Williams
Herrington
Carey
Hyppolite
D.Jerry
A.Smith
J.St Fort
Proctor
T.Finley
Blackshear

The kids from that group of possibly non-commutable offers and also one not in that group I believe the best chance of being offered are

Wyatt Smith
Zion Vilma
Stive- Bently Keumajou
Ty Alexander
Anthony Jennings
Sherrod Gourdine
Alan Blackshear

Updated with couple new names…Also some transfer movement. Carol City adds couple kids. Chaminade loses a couple.

Interesting that right now in my top 40…There is one Miami Central kids, no Miami Northwestern kids, no Norland kids, and two Chaminade kids (only 1 in top 25). STA the runaway leader with 10. Carol City with their most talent in a long while as supposedly they are ponying up (And also I believe a new coach is attracting some kids in). Biggest year for Palm Beach in a while, continuing off a talented year last year.

Who would you compare him to that we’ve had in the past? Is he a potential game changer at WR?
