I think he’s already done. James comments to the media were very generic and not directly supportive of Diaz. Stuff like “what is the situation with Diaz job?”…”I can’t comment on his job status. All I can say is the university is committed to providing resources to win championships”.
That reads to me like they’re either searching for a new coach or they’re going to build a new facility that he’s been demanding. It’s not the latter, so….
Diaz’s seat is a bit cooler after beating a ranked team.
Solid win against a pretty good NC State team. (I expected Miami to lose again. Nice to see an unexpected win for a change of pace.) Didn’t watch the game but looking at the stats, it seems TVD stepped up his game. (The team stats were incredibly even).
A few more points against UVA (missed an easy walk off FG) and NC and Miami is 5-2 instead of 3-4
Will be shocked if Miami beats Pitt next week in Pitt. Could happen but doesn’t seem likely.
Pitt beat Clemson but did struggle to beat Western Michigan earlier this season so there is a glimmer of hope.
4 games in November; GT and VT at home, FSU and Duke away. Have to go 3 for 4 to be bowl eligible. Doable but I wouldn’t be surprised if they go 2-2 or even 1-3. Also possible they could go 4-0 but seems unlikely. Miami is perilously close to being forced to start a 4th string QB and RB if either TVD or Knighton pull up lame. Keep your fingers crossed.
So, in other words just like every other Miami team since forever. It seems like unless a team, Miami or otherwise, is perfect, a good portion of its fan base is always calling for the coach’s head. People wanted JJ, Butch, Coker, Shannon, Golden and Richt fired, too. What else is new?
We’ll see. I have a feeling he’ll probably survive this season and next year will be his make or break year. He has a built in legitimate excuse this season due to the injuries to key personnel.
We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes with the BOT and Frenk. I just hope if they make a move, they show James the door, too and hire an AD with a clue.
