The word coup is originally meant “blow” as in “to strike a blow” and denotes at its very core, violence. But I can see a version of the coup which could be “silent.”

As the violence was underway, President Trump ignored multiple pleas for assistance and failed to take immediate action to stop the violence and instruct his supporters away from the Capitol
That’s a coup. That’s an attempt to overturn a legal election. He was told time and time again by those in his administration that what he was doing was not honest, not legal, and would destroy the country.

False. McCarthy proposed 5 people, two of which were rejected by Pelosi as they were implicated in the plot itself, Jim Jordan and Jim Banks. She accepted his other 3 recommended and gave McCarthy a chance to suggest another 2 members. McCarthy instead decided with WITHDRAW THE 3 MEMBERS APPROVED BY PELOSI. Even as he refused to work with the committee at all, 2 other GOP members joined.
In addition, all of these developments came AFTER McCarthy had rejected a proposal for a bipartisan commission that would have equal membership and subpoena power to Democrats and Republicans.

You bring up some fair points. I’m willing to re-evaluate things.
I just can’t past the partisan nature of politics and know that the Dems (and Pubs) have pushed lies for years.
And you are being completely disingenuous to say that all Pubs are traitors or whatever and your Dem elected officials are all true Patriots.

I do not believe this. Though, 147 GOPers in the House voted not to accept the certification of the ballots. That’s kind of a big deal. But, I vehemently do not believe like your statement attests. We just never get into the weeds on the Dems. We can, though. I think the vast majority in Congress are gutter trash, but at least show a respect for being a Democratic Republic. My contention is at the very least…the VERY least…respecting a legal election and not trying to usurp power for the sake of it is bottom of the barrel. We’re not talking hyperbole, any longer.
