I was sitting in the waiting room at an auto repair shop this week, listening to the woman across from me complain about everything happening in her life while apparently forgetting her need for oxygen. Her mother has Alzheimer’s, her stepfather is stealing her estate, her car is a lemon, her son lost his job, she lost her job, and on and on.
Then she got to vaccines. She of course is vaccinated. Her younger brother? No and it’s pissing her off.
“My brother, he isn’t vaccinated. I was telling him, with the Delta variant out there, you have to get vaccinated. It’s our only protection against it. It’s killing people all over…”
It was like I was listening to someone regurgitate what they watched on the 5 o’clock news from the day before. I was tempted to ask her to explain to me what the delta variant actually is but I didn’t want to give her another reason to keep speaking.
I tell this story because like many, I’ve become wary of Covid news, Covid statistics, etc.
With all that said, these Florida Covid hospitalizations statistics are concerning.

A. Thank the media. People nowadays forget that you can get better with Tylenol and rest due to media’s fear campaign. Not everyone in those hospitals is fighting for their life on a ventilator
B. It’s ok for hospitals to be busy…We are supposed to get vaccinated, wear masks, etc…So that “frontline” workers can do crosswords and send TikToks all day???
C. Even places that delta hit much earlier…A small, small fraction of last year’s Covid are dying (and I don’t believe there was 700k deaths here the first time around but that’s a different discussion, but ya so that would be a smaller fraction of an even smaller whole unit). Seems far less fatal than original version…And when you combine this with the plain harsh fact that covid took a chunk of people that it is roughest on. So that percentage of the population is just fine.
One thing that would be nice is if we can understand (FINAL ANSWER not just theories) why July/August seems to be Sun Belt and especially Florida’s peak. Is it the A.C. thing that was speculated last year?

The fact that delta is taking up all the oxygen in the room is because the media and their masters realize that COVID isn’t as scary as it was a year and a half ago.
They need a bogey man. And once the delta scare timeline wanes as well, they’ll push lamda and sigma… and then soon no one will really be paying attention because whether anyone admits it or not they’ll finally know they were bamboozled.
There are no more old sick people to kill off in large numbers any more. They only had so many in stock.
I’d like to know this too. My wife brought it to my attention recently. I wasn’t aware that we spiked last year too around this time. Would be nice to know why.

Good post Canedemonium. No shortage of morons whose actions may be the result of someone else malevalently burning tanna leaves. We’re living in an age of irrationality, allowing our nation to be invaded, being governed by a dementia patient, choosing to spend hours on PS 5 rather being gainfully employed.
Out in Hollywood, talentless but busty actress Jamie Lee Curtis announced proudly that her son Thomas has suddenly become her daughter, now known as Ruby. Ruby will soon be marrying another man, and Jamie Lee will be officiating. Hollywood types are gleeful of Curtis’s woke acceptance of the spectacle soon to take place, and she is receiving kudos for her splendid mothering of Ruby. I wonder why if such behavior is not learned why it is so prevalent in Hollywood. I post this parenthetically for Djrion whom I suspect may soon be asking us to call him Ruby as well.
