I’m just going to say it out loud and early. I am worried about our defense. I don’t trust our front 7 or our depth at corner now. I’m especially worried about our linebackers getting lost.
Talk me off a cliff, because I’m not sure how we hold up against top 10 offenses. I know that was the first game and no td’s given up, but there were some really bad basic things not being done properly in the secondary/linebackers.
I’m right there with you. Stanford has 3 starters out and we couldn’t dominate. The secondary was not close on most of the passes. Someone is going to light us up. I was told to take a step back and it’s only the first game. It will be fixed.
My concern going in was our DE’s and our depth in that area. Still is a concern.
Losing OJ hurt but we are still solid all around. I’m wondering if we just played it “safe” in the secondary vs Stanford?
I’m also concerned about our run game.
AND Lord forbid if Toney gets hurt…
Not a doom and gloom right now of course but I’m looking at these first 3 games as our preseason games so we willl see what gets fixed.
I just thought we should have been able to play vanilla and still dominate, yet Stanford with all their people out, moved the ball and continued to moved the ball. Yes they had multiple penalties that stopped many of their drives, but coverage looked terrible, soft and lost a lot. That should not happen if you are literally keeping things simple. I also thought we’d see more QB hits throughout the game and they were mostly non existent.
The offensive line, I feel will get their shit together. I really think it’s more of a communication and finding the right fit.
