When the new board started, I suggested to Dallas that he lose the Storm Shelter and Storm Front.
Neither has any business being on a football/sports board. Sections like this just attract psychos and no oneās mind is ever changed so whatās the point?

Back in the day the Shelter had interesting in-depth conversation here and there. I liked debating with bill for sure, because we all have our biases, and his were strong, but he was overall pretty principled and intelligent and well read. I learned stuff talking to him.
These days we were left with GSC. I like the guy but he was uninformed and generally the opposite of canebill. Once he tucked tail thereās nothing left to argue about!
And I donāt blame anyone really. The Shelter only ever had value as a distraction, but if you were coming here daily for conflict dependence, youāre really much better off watching it die.

It wasnāt a bad idea. Some healthy debates and discussion took place and it was entertaining at times. I stopped posting after I realized how much time I was wasting in the back and forth arguments that never went anywhere productive.

I have enjoyed the Storm Shelter these many years. There have been a host of very good discussions among some rather learned persons. Getting rid of it would depart from tradition, and for certain during various times of year, there is a paucity of items to discuss pertaining to UM football. I regret that some have gotten their feelings hurt and lose sight of the fact that this is a message board.
Curiously, Warden and I happen to be friends though we disagree on a host of matters. My usual reaction to his barbs is a smile, and I enjoy matching wits. I regret that GSC has gone missing; I suppose the heat of the kitchen caused him to flee. I wish heād reconsider his decision to depart.
The late message board great Canebill and I often talked about posts which we shouldnāt have submitted, but sometimes, I wouldnāt say often, we were wrong, and subsequently we were enlightened by the arguments put forth by others. This I think belies the adage that old dogs cannot learn new tricks.
While I liked Stormfront after meeting him in person, I do think he was rather truculent in his assertions and injudiciously flooded the boards with posts that were exceedingly redundant. Against popular demands, I still wouldnāt have banned him.

I offered to bail and have my account deleted to give GSC a lifeline of sorts, if he felt so scared that he told me his name in a post from his own Instagram account with his handle being his first and last name and I now knew who he was, that he had to flee. But, it appears to have been a useless gesture. Well, my proof is that I know his name. You confirmed it as did his absence. I didnāt guess it. New Jersey has 9.5 million people in it (which is surprising - the DFW area has that many people alone). All we know about him is he lives in NJ and is in sales. So, he posted an Instagram video on 08/17 (Is fascism a response to communism?) and then me learning his name on 08/18 wasnāt magic. It wasnāt a glitch in the matrix. Iām not omnipresent. How did me clicking that lead to his page, where he literally (and you can go check it now) has his first and last name as his handle, and itās not now? No idea. I donāt have Instagram so i donāt know its workings too well. But, againā¦Iām not magic.
But, yesā¦I do know who he is. With it, I called him Paulie and told him he looked like 2 different people. Remarkably nefarious stuff.

I offered 305 to delete my account for the sake of GSC coming back if he was too scared to be in the same message board, because heās been here way before me and I donāt think the two sides have anything more to talk about. I am not 6ā3 but I do weigh around 230 pounds. I have had guys talk shit to me and than been on the worse side of a beating. I have actually been in fights. Won some - lost some but I am not really afraid of anyone. I think if I met skeeter we would get along. Skeeter actually reminds me of my good friend Timmi. Like Timmi, Skeeter talks shit but I do think he is actually a good dude who would have your back if something went down. Same with Bikki. The one change I did make is to not list the Shelter on the LATEST list of posts. I figured it was scaring off the football fans. This will lower visibility of off-topic posts, but I think itās a good tradeoff.
The way I see it, nobody should come to this site for the first time and have Shelter posts thrown in their face. This is a Canes board. Come here and talk Canes football. And then if you have time to kill and find talking to peeps here interesting and look around a little, you can post about even more.
