Coaching Carousel

Well, it’s that time of year again. The chopping blocks are out. And coaches who sort of failed elsewhere become wunderkinds anew creating great and often unwarranted expectations of future success.

Was sort of surprised Texas pulled the trigger on Herman especially after the blow out bowl game win against CU. Texas doesn’t suffer no fools. His buyout is reportedly 15M plus another 10M? for the assistants. Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark. Sark is a good OC, but I wouldn’t hire him as a HC.

The rumor is Michigan will give Harbaugh a 6? year extension. If true, not bad for a guy who can’t beat OSU or Michigan State and had a horrible 2020 with 2? whole wins. It seems most Michigan fans want him gone but Michigan’s AD apparently attended the “Blake James’ School Of Coaching Hires And Contracts.”

Not sure how Rumph still has a job given his recruiting woes. I assume he is an adequate posiiton coach but he has totally whiffed at recruiting CB’s this year.

Wrong forum. It’s all Bikki’s fault. Have requested mods to move this to the football forum.

Hahahaha! :joy:

Hiring Sark to Texas is like driving by a Chili’s and pulling into Applebees…

How about Bielema getting another HC gig (Illinois). Wild.

Just another example where even terrible experience is valued over no experience. Also WTH are some of these schools thinking? Illinois will never be a conference powerhouse, just hire randos for cheap to keep it interesting.

I like Bielema to Illinois

More of a Big Ten guy

As a Bears fan I loved Lovie, he just couldn’t recruit…

Harbaugh took a big pay cut in his extension…4M/yr now, about half of prior. His buyout is only 4M and drops 1M every year. Big fall from grace.

Yeah they gave Harbaugh a job but made it easier to get rid of if he keeps sucking

I am surprised he went back to college. He is clearly a pro guy. Could have one of the openings this year or next.

David Yost fired?? Whaaaaaat.
