Coaches Salaries

Mario is #`17.

UNC is probably trying to scrape together Belichick’s $20M buyout.

Interesting data. Quick thoughts.

The highest payers are most of the schools I’d expect, largely from the conferences I’d expect.

ACC w 3 in the top 20.

Deboer - huge pay raise from UW to Bama. Wonder how long he’ll have to “win” something, or what that expectation looks like for him?

Seems like the teams paying in the $6-8m could argue they are getting a bargain assuming their team is competing well.

Trent Dilfer & Eddie George - didn’t know they coached.

Major Applewhite - IIRC he was a name talked about for a lot of jobs yet has topped out at Houston thus far.

Scott Frost - Nebraska vs UCF $.

It is amazing how often “can’t miss” hires miss badly.

Rich Rod at Michigan, Frost at Nebraska, etc.

Given what he started with, Mario had done an excellent job IMHO, not perfect but the roster is drastically better than what Richt/Diaz left him. And if Miami keeps winning 9+ games/year, they should be able to pull almost every kid they want either initially or on the aftermarket.

Whatever I do in life, I want Kirby Smart’s agent to negotiate my contracts. His pay package is insane. His $13M salary is crazy enough, but that $100M buyout is just looney tunes.

Another insane contract is Lincoln Riley. No way this cat is earning his salary.

If CMC wins it all this year, I expect his salary to adjust. The one thing Miami has in their favor is that CMC loves his alma mater, and I assume he’d want to stay. Frankly, if I’m Mario, I would parlay any earnings into salaries to keep assistants, and for NIL. These are the things that make him successful - - not more $ in his bank account.
