Shaw has resigned at Stanford.
Shaw is only 50! If he wants another job, someone will give him the opportunity.
Iām a fan of Steeleā¦And with no LB, he was handicappedā¦But there were things that alarmed me as year want. Still I think he would have been(if indeed gone) fine here UNLESS old coach syndrome has set in.
The only thing I didnāt like about defense was too many guys sat back and reacted instead of attacking their assignment (eg linebackers not attacking lanes/gaps). Whether that was by design or player hesitation I donāt know.
I do not understand what we were doing in the middle of the field for much of the year. QB draws never didnāt work.
Itās tough with Flagg and Steed and Caleb Johnson thoughā¦In Diazās defense all a Flagg type did was shoot a gap. When these guys have to pursue or get in spaceā¦They are severely exposed.
Caleb Johnson was a little better in space than Flaggā¦but didnāt hold up well against the run (see Pitt)ā¦Both are liabilities
