Clemson is attempting to negate its contract with the ACC. If it prevails, the ACC as we know it is over.
Sounds like Clemson wants to join another conference (SEC?) and they are upset their media rights are tied to the ACC till 2036.
I’m not sure what their argument is, though. Are they just saying their contract terms are unfair and want to get out of them?
At this juncture the SEC and Big 10 are not conferences. They are LEAGUES. I guess this is why UF isn’t fighting tool and nail against FSU and USC the same with Clemson regarding joining the SEC.
Two LEAGUES play their seasons. Then they have playoffs and champs meet in the College Super Bowl.
Everyone else is ass out and can basically do whatever they want. Once this comes to fruition it is going to cost a lot of $$$ to try and move up into one of the leagues from whatever they call those on the outside.
Miami AD earns his paycheck in the next year if lawsuits win. Will have to move very quickly.
Can certainly see all of that being the case.
I still prefer the now much older college football days. Oh well. No going back now.
What does anything think Miami should/could do?
Just combine the big 5 conferences and be done with it. That’s where this is all headed anyway.
Just make a college league, pay them fairly and call it a day.
If the NCAA tried to create a larger football playoff would they be able to slow down or even stop the conference expansion phenomenon? Would they want to? Is it too late?
The basketball formula seems to allow for all the conferences to survive. Save the majors that are all moving around.
