Yeah ESPN has an article out where Wisconsin and the Big Ten are accusing us of tampering. They “claim” they have credible evidence to the fact. I really hope Mario/Staff have not screwed up this programming for any potential tampering violations. I have no idea IF this is true and IF it is what sort of penalty we would face.
It now creates a slippery slope in college sports if a student athlete can bypass the portal this way. Man…

This is going to open up quite a Pandora’s Box. I am seeing the lawyers getting paid trying to figure this out, and possibly this ending up in Congress… again. Oh, and more realization that the NCAA is toothless and unnecessary.

Regardless, the NCAA is now left with ANOTHER loophole to close. If Lucas is really successful in this then what’s stopping any student athlete to just up and leave and not have to enter the portal? The NCAA has created a mess all in the name of money
I am going from memory but didn’t Lucas say that he requested his name be put in the portal and the school refused? Actually, this is sort of news to me. I always thought the student put their name in the portal (school be damned).
Hard to imagine it took this long for a school to say “no” if they have the power to do so.
That is the thing about POWER. Those that have had it their way for a very long time …dislike when it is taken away. A few years back they would have kicked him off the team, then string him along for a few months before giving him a release. Of course he would then have to sit out a year at any power 5 program before being able to play
Thank the old gods that Ed O’ Bannon formally and legally got the ball rolling taking on the NCAA.
You can abandon any academic scholarship at any school and enroll at another which will accept you provided that you have the grades and funding…but for college football you are a serf ?!
