I know the coordinators got extensions, but is the rest of our staff settled? Do you have strong opinions on the overall quality of our coaches?
Overall I think we do have an above average staff…Some of CMC’s original hires flat out sucked. But I really think we have a strong staff right now.
The TE coach hire was interesting…But I think that was more of a cultural thing.

Also the question mark from an experience standpoint would have obviously been Jefferson…But many have spoke of him as an up and comer from a coaching perspective. And obviously his recruiting has started off with a boom, although I’m sure Will Harris had a little something to do with the recent CB flips as well.
New nickles/assistnat DB coach (Jefferson’s former position) Matthew Birkett… Coached with Heatherman under Cignetti at JMU, spent the past year at Kansas, originally from Cali. Like that there’s ties to Heatherman obviously, but also Cignetti
Yeah, recruiting these days just doesn’t have the excitement that it once did for me. It’s nice to have the rankings, etc…but it today’s College NFL things can change during the season and then twice through the portal.
Well once for the portal now… And when did it not “change” during the season?
Correct, one portal.
By “change” I mean we lay some goose eggs, lose against people we shouldn’t, etc… then the “commits” go elsewhere. And in these times of college sports a signed kid can just leave after one year. Personally, I think a kid gets ONE change and then if they change again they wait a year. It would go a long way to keeping “commits”.
