If James Madison makes the final 12, the playoffs are a total joke. Talk about SOS issues.
They are a good team but their conference is extremely weak. They are practically FCS level.

Agreed. Hence my edit.
What changes, if any, will the ACC pursue should this end in flames this year?
Bring divisions back for one. The division-less model is trash.
I don’t care what anyone says it has to help.
Duke is going to win this game y’all. Imagine Manny Diaz winning an ACC Title before CMC.
Bama has now lost three games. That puts them in the same position as Texas. Georgia won CONVINCINGLY.
BYU was CONVINCINGLY defeated by Texas Tech. They now have suffered their second loss.
Duke defeated Virginia. Stick a fork in Virginia.
I think Miami will slip-into the playoffs. The only other team to worry about is James Madison, rated considerably lower than the Canes.
Duke may piss this away.
Duke played an a2ful last 5 minutes, and their play from 2:00 on was embarrassing. I don’t know if they can rally in OT.
They said at the 2 minute mark duke had a 98% chance to win.
i’m about 70% confident miami will get in now, because the committee wont leave out the ACC…not after the ACC took in stanford/cal and saved everyone a headache.
Bikki doesn’t know how this works. Miami isn’t competing with James Madison for a spot. JM won a league, Miami did not. JM will be in if ranked ahead of DUKE, as they won the ACC. Miami can only be an at large entrant. They have to be able to beat out either ND or the Tide or they stay home.
After watching all this today and listening to the talking heads and such… I kind of think the right move might be to do away with championship games per se. They devalue the regular season. They add another chance for a team to play themselves out of the CFP. And Notre Dame doesn’t have to deal with any of the potential downside.
Conversely, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I wrote my comment when Duke was up 20-10. Hard to believe Virginia tied the score, only to lose in OT. I cannot see how Miami can now be excluded. I predict both Miami and ND will be in the play-offs.
Hats off to Indiana, historically one of the worst teams in college football history. What a difference hiring the right coach makes. OSU was held to the least yards rushing since 2011. Overlooking rushing offense is a major flaw to being sublimely successful in the game of football whether collegiate or pro.
And that won’t be easy due to that money. Title games make the playoff picture murky, not clearer. But they make money. The NFL won’t give up the pro bowl because it makes money and that game is meaningless. You think conferences are ditching title games? Never!
This is where I’m at…Duke was the final straw, this tourney wasn’t meant for 5 loss non-auto bids and the ACC won’t get left out
I can honestly say I think we’ll be in now
And even without Duke, I can honestly say for the first time, we deserve to be. Bama’s November was dogs hit all the way around and they got their teeth kicked in AND they have the worst loss(fsu)
All the dice rolled Miami’s way today, not unlike their first NC in 1984 when every team they needed to lose lost. They went from #7 to #1 by beating Nebraska when Tom Osbourne went for 2 instead of taking the tie and probably winning the NC anyway. (By the way, what happened to Omaha, does he still post here?)
BYU was really blown out. I don’t think they will be in the CFP even at 11-2.
Bama was sort of blown out and now has 3 loses at 10-3. They had a bad game, their -3 rushing stats were horrendous, had only about 200 yards total offense and a measly 7 points. And they lost to 5 win FSU earlier in the season, not a good look. I don’t think they belong in the playoffs but the committee might cuz SEC.
Because of the absurd ACC tie breaker rules, Duke wins the ACC with 5 losses. UVA which had edged its way to 10-2 finishes 10-3. They pulled out victory in 6 narrow non-cupcake wins and lost to 4 loss Wake. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Tonight their close game luck ran out.
Duke lost to a cupcake a few weeks ago, UConn. Congrats to Manny by the way. He becomes the first? 5 loss ACC Champ in history?
I didn’t think it would happen but Miami has to be in now. As much as they would like to do so, I don’t see how the committee can leave they out.
Hopefully, they won’t get killed in the first round.
My main worry, I admit.
Miami vs Vanderbilt in the Gator bowl
Don’t be stunned when this happens tomorrow.
Too many people are making arguments about us beating out teams who we aren’t even competing with for the playoffs. I don’t get this.
We’re strictly looking for an at large berth here.
Three teams for two spots. Now come on guys, we’ve all done this for a while now. I’ve seen this since I was a kid. Three teams….
Ya got the beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish who everyone on God’s planet Earth loves to death, the Alabama Crimson Tide who make everyone long for the days of Paul Bear Bryant and maybe even, dare I say. Nick Saban too as they remind us all of simpler times in these United States of America. Then over there in the corner you’ve got the Miami Hurricanes who remind everyone of Nevin Shapiro, Jerome Brown coming off a plane in Tempe’ in war fatigues and Jerry Faust being routed into obscurity 58-7 in a nationally televised game that made many wonder if football was truly made for broadcast TV.
Now which of these three teams do you see watching the playoffs at home? Try not to overthink this. And remember it’s a group of biased humans behind closed doors doing the selecting.
I agree, TMC. The playoff oddsmakers also agree with you. ND and Bama are heavily favored to make the playoffs in the betting world this very moment. There is real money on the line there and they have Miami on the outside looking in.
I don’t understand how people are feeling good about Miami getting in.
