Boy do we need a QB

I have never had faith in Emory Williams. Obviously, he’s a great kid with a surfeit of desire, but he lacks athleticism. It could well be argued that during the drive eventuating in a field goal, we had driven the entire field, all on the ground; we were tearing them up with our rushing game. Then, in the red zone, we let Emory throw a pass, leaving us with two downs to ram it into the end zone. Emory failed. Had we not gone pass happy, we surely would have put the ball in the end zone with three attempts to do so. I can’t believe we made the same mistaken, very stupid call we made against Syracuse.

As I’ve written earlier, I think Nickel is as good a freshman QB as there is in this class. However, Sam Leavitt of Arizona State might jump into the portal after the bowl games. Leavitt would be a great fit for the Hurricanes. He has a good arm, and he’s a great ball carrier.

Last year, Michigan showed that having formidable rushing team can win it all. Next year, I’d like to see Miami rely more heavily on the ground game, dominating time of possession, engineering long drives with the rush and SHORT passing game, slants, outs, hitches, and shuffle passes. No way Emory can do it, but Leavitt can, and I think Nickel as well. We should go after Leavitt.

I agree. Listen cam was great but miami can probably be better on offense by having a top ten rushing attack and a qb that can sustain drives. What made JJ so good for michigan last year was his ability to move the sticks. You cant have a qb who cant do that. I liked emory out of hs. I would have taken him. I think he is a guy that maybe as a rs jr or senior can run your team.

Could Williams be a Ken Dorsey game manager type? Dorsey was not athletic, and he threw more wounded ducks than any college QB I’ve ever seen. But he won a natty, and came one bad call from winning a second.

The kid was heady and understood the game. He also understood that he had special talent around him and that to be successful he only needed to get the ball to his playmaker. He had heart.

Could Williams be that guy?

I would ask. Does it even matter?

Just take off the Hurricanes glasses for a moment and look at this years schedule and the half ass wins/Cam bail outs we got? Like once in a lifetime bailouts from Cam. We were easily a 7 win max team with an average QB against this years shitty schedule.

QB is one thing, the entire Defense and other key positions will kill us next year. I don’t see us winning more than 7 games, nobody on this staff develops players. What good is a recruiting class that doesn’t grow and get better, or transfers?!

Thank You!!

This team will be bad next year. Expect no more than 6-7 wins maybe. Coach is in year 4 and still has to go in and rip this defense apart, as it’s so damn bad. Unfortunately for us, the world will see just how far (not) this actual rebuild has gotten under Mario. Team still has the same issues it always does. Roster is incomplete, they fade in the 2nd half of the season. (still lost 3 of 4 to end this season and that was WITH Ward) and the coaching on Saturdays is subpar. That’s not changing any time soon, unfortunately.

So whose tenure is proving to be the bigger joke, Mario’s or Lincoln Riley’s out at USC.

They’re both looking pretty bad for approaching year four.

And as far as the Ken Dorsey question…not unless Emory is bringing the 2001 Canes into camp with him in August. Team had Portis, McGahee and Gore at RB and Davenport as the FB. ARE U EVEN KIDDING ME?
