I loved watching those FSU teams play, even as a Cane fan. Great coach and great person.
His FSU teams were rivals…intense …hard-hitting…leave-nothing-on-the-field rivals. No vitriol…no cursing out …just bragging rights. That was the beauty of FSU vs 'Canes. IMHO it’s why many considered it better than any other “rivalry matchup” . It was cousins vs cousins, brothers vs brothers and friends vs friends.
Yeah… I got mad at him for complaining his way into the OU title match then losing to a pedestrian Sooner team …then later admitting it might’ve been been better if Miami had played. Still that too was/is part of the lore. We’ll never see another like him.
R.I.P. Coach Bowden…we’re all going to miss you.
