I of course support Trump, but I point out that Gabbard’s stature within the Democrat Party is on the rise since she stands opposed to many leftist failed ideas, namely with respect to immigration and the war in Ukraine. She’s much less crazy than most Democrat leaders. As Madstork pointed out, however, Gabbard chose to stand with Bernie Sanders during the nomination process. Were I a Democrat, and I once was a Democrat, Sanders would be one of the last candidates I’d support. But for being a politician, his working life has been that of an abysmal failure.
The war in Ukraine needs to be stopped. Gabbard is absolutely correct that Ukraine could never prevail. The longer it is prolonged, the more damage will be visited not only on Ukraine but on Western Europe. Its prolongation also may result in famine in third world nations who depend upon food and fertilizer from Russia and Ukraine. Having a proxy war of several decades against Russia has potential to develop into a more widespread conflict and use of nuclear weapons is not out of the question.
Putin has never lost a war, and he will not lose in Ukraine, because the West will not concede to fighting Russia. Putin will end the proxy war with the West, and the borders of Ukraine will be redrawn as they have been in past centuries of European history. The West should try to improve relations with Russia to sever its close ties with China. Russia needs to be made a partner in Europe, developed with infusion of Western capital, and not treated as the red-headed stepchild of Europe. As for sanction, they cannot work against a nation that produces both energy and food. Already the sanctions have numerous exceptions and trade in vital resources is now occurring through middleman nations bypassing sanctions. The way to pacify Russia is to addict Russia to free enterprise improving the lives of the Russian people. Never forget that no nation lost more souls during WW2 than Russia, and some of the most intense fighting took place on Russian soil. We haven’t had a war on our soil since the Civil War. The scars of war affect nearly every Russian family.
