It may not be considered murder from a legal standpoint with the current laws, but in the eyes of those of the faith, it is murder. Forbidding priests from marriage should have never been allowed. Some if not all the abuse endured by those young boys may have been prevented if the priests were allowed to engage in normal sexual behavior by being allowed to enter into matrimony. I have never had a discussion on this that didn’t result in a compromise. 97 or 98% of abortions are within the first term and done by a pill. If you want restriction based upon a time frame, I’m up for that. Third term abortions seem preventable outside of the health of the mother.

I’ve had 2. Neither were my choice. The first one was done by a girlfriend of 7 years and while I was painting the room (way early but i was excited). She came home and told me her mother talked her into it and it was done. That, coupled with a few other terrible things, resulted in me walking the earth like David Carridine from Kung Fu for a few years and took about a decade to get over. The second was a lawyer who was a crazy bitch, we broke up and she said she was pregnant but not having it since she was trying to a partner at Akin and Gump.
So, I never a had a choice in either, but I do get it. I think. I’m 45 and married though…so, honestly, if you want to take abortion out of the GOP as a driving force, make it illegal, and mobilize the left over it…have at it. It’s a losing battle if that happens and some on the right know that.

In my view, the only time abortion is acceptable is in the very rare case that the mother will die if she attempts to bring the baby to term. It’s awful either way.

Not sure. But, remember the history of the discussion at the time. It was considered the moral route and safest route. Before then, abortions still happened at a staggering rate, but in less secure conditions that resulted in worse outcomes for the mother. By allowing it to be legal, it provided a safe and legal space.
It was ONLY after Frank Schaeffer, Jerry Fallwell and Paul Weyrich made it a political issue to gather the evangelicals and Catholics together did it become considered the die hard issue it is today.
